How do you survive without food in the desert
Actually I am not picky with food but after reading this news I think I would
probably have died if I am in the place of this pest controller.

Would I be like Rosmulder eat "termites" to survive? I cannot answer. I have not been in situation that I have no food for more than 24 hours. I would probably be died of hunger. I know I am not a suitable "Survivor"
candidate. I would likely be the first to be out of competition.

Before I die of hunger I would probably have been shocked to death by the ugly looking insects, snakes and even spiders etc. I think I might suffer heart attack before hunger. So I better make sure I am not in the jungle or desert.

North Face shoes
Finally after 2 months I have claimed my $150 voucher at North Face shop. First time shopping at North Face. When I was in States in June I did went to take a look at North Face shoes but did not buy any. Most of their shoes for tracking and mountain climbing. Few models meant for distance running. I picked this model "W Arnuva 50 Boa". My voucher only can purchase new models not the ones on promo.

I am very happy with this new shoe. Only one color (light yellow) is available. I most happy with the adjustable switch at the back of the shoe to tighten the shoe. Its so automated the shoe fits perfectly.

Can check the model here:

Good comments from China fans for WL
Fans found these two good comments from WL's fans in China:

Below is blog entry from China's Chengdu Charity performance recently:
http://yangyue1974.blog.sohu.com/94984199.html

Below is blog entry recommending WL's cd:
http://blog.sina.com.cn/s/blog_4e63c0b20100a9we.html

Korean hearthrob Kwon Sang Woo to marry in Sept 08

This is surprising news to me as I happen to read it by accident while searching for some news.

I just watched Kwon Sang Woo's latest Korean drama "Bad Love" last saturday. Anyway I do recall he said he wants to be married when he reach 30. This should be right time for him. I do not know his wife to be. She seems to be B-list actress meaning 2nd actress in drama/movie not lead though she was lead in Freeze mini series and A million roses. I do not think have seen her dramas before.

Its quite a quick relationship as he know her like a year plus and started dating like Jan this year. Maybe for them so famoous its better to get it done quick before rumour spread and cause relationship to end. All the best to Kwon Sang Woo and wife to be. I hope his fans can accept it as he is human and he needs to have family. Fans who want to own their idol and who cannot accept him of getting married and being own by his wife has to really come to terms with reality. He is an actor, the roles he acted is not him, not his real person. Hundreds of his fans are requesting to quit from his FC after hearing this news. Hope they wake up and support his decision.

I am sure many of his fans are heartbroken by this news but not me as I am not big fan of him. I am Ahn Jae Wook fan and if he is getting married I will get a bit sad but then I will not stop watching his drama haha.

Read how romantic KSW is wow cannot believe it so envy leh, maybe KSW learnt tips from drama he acted it.

How did you get to know each other?
I spotted her crying in a tv program. At that moment, I had a soft spot for her. And i saw her again in a lunch appointment together with Kim Sung Soo.

It took me a while to have the courage to call her and we met and that’s how we become an item.

Where do you normally date?
The news reported that we dated in her house but frankly I’ve never been to her house before, it’s hard for celebrities like us to find an ideal place to date without being spotted.

We usually sit and chat in the car or go for a ride, sometimes we write each other letters. I never know i enjoy writing until now.

What qualities does she have that attracts you ?
She takes really good care of my mum and they get along very well, the house is always full of laughter when she’s around, my family likes her.

When was your first kiss (with her)?
I can’t remember.

How did you propose?
This was my first and I cried when I did.

There was news that both of you went for a holiday in Australia?
We did not go alone but with friends.

Will Son Tae Young continue to act after the marriage?
We have not discussed about this yet. I guess life still goes on as normal.

What is your view on marriage life?
I will be a passionate husband and surprise her each and everyday of our life.

Do you have a couple ring?
I put a necklace on her while we were on a hot air balloon in Australia, we vowed to love

Here negative news about fans reaction towards bride to be:
http://coolsmurf.wordpress.com/2008/07/21/anti-fans-against-son-tae-young-marrying-kwon-sang-woo/

KSW, though I am not from your FC but I do like your dramas, I pray that you and your wife to be will be able to go through this tough times. Be strong and always remember that you are marrying your life partner. Career can never replace family. All the best to you both! Amen !

Meanwhile, in reply to this “hate campaign” against his wife-to-be, Kwon Sang Woo posted a message on his fancafe earlier this morning.

These people (reporters and antis) never stops blabbering…I’m tearing as I’m writing this.

Is this the right way for these reporters and people to pass judgement about my wedding? Who has the right to judge my decision and about my wife?

Son Tae Young has suffered lots of hurt from the media. Her actions and past relationships are all laid out bare for all to see, but…

I have also experienced relationships and breakups. I’m not asking for you to understand and accept Son Tae Young. I just know that my opinion is the most important thing.

I, Kwon Sang Woo am not in love and getting married with a Miss Korea. I am really in love and getting married with a woman. I really don’t like the media fabricating stuff like she’s pregnant, comparing my marriage with Yoo Jae Suk, etc…

Money, fame. If you just look up to these, there won’t be an end to it. Let’s work a bit more, let’s earn a bit more money, let’s accumulate more popularity. There are people who gives up their love because of that. I don’t want to do that.

Good blog on Malaysia's AI and Altantula scandal
Found this and I agree with the blogger. I do not support any politicians or AI in particular but as always I still cannot 100% agree or trust what AI claims all of the misfortune and mistreatment of him as his episode is just too drama.

"Mamma Mia" movie A MUST See
I regretted not skipping IT conference dinner in Las Vegas this year to catch this play which was being played opposite the Hotel I was staying. I missed it when it came to Singapore few years ago but my sister who watched it told me it was amazing. Now finally movie coming soon. I MUST CATCH it this time.

Those who enjoyed musical do not forget to get ticket to this movie. I wonder if the storyline exactly same as the musical but I do not care I saw the movie trailer and I love it. I know the time for this movie can be limited to act the full flavour of the stage musical but I love ABBA and I sure will love the movie. Meryl Streep and Colin Firth I love these 2 actors !

Mamma Mia here I come !

20 July 2008 10:29 PM, PDT From Rope Of Silicon
See recent Rope Of Silicon news
Considering the long line of great musicals in the history of film there is a new number one, at least in terms of opening weekend box-office numbers as Mamma Mia! slipped in under the radar. While everyone was rejoicing over The Dark Knight breaking midnight, opening day and opening weekend records, Mamma Mia! went ahead and beat last year's Hairspray to enjoy the strongest debut for a musical with an estimated $27.6 million. Of course, this edges out Hairspray by just $0.1 million, which means the estimate is going to need to hold up or increase for the record to occur, but Universal already seems quite proud of the film that should have never been released it is so bad. "You feel a little guilty bragging when Dark Knight was so huge, but we're proud," the studio's Nikki Rocco told USA Today.

Batman is top Superhero at box office
Actually I am kind of lack of interest in this movie as I have watched all previous batman where there are different actors acted the role from:
Michael Keaton (Good)
George Clooney (boring)
Christian Bale (Great)

I still find Michael Keaton suit the Batman suit much better but Christian Bale is more good looking. The last Batman movie with Tom Cruise's current wife was not bad. After much thought and read the great reviews decided to buy advance ticket and catch it last friday. Though sick this movie was worth the pain I got through trying to finish the show. George Clooney is the more boring one and I did not really like the movie he acted.

The actor for Joker who died earlier this year was amazing in this movie. For his age he acted very well as Joker was supposed to be older by the voice and everything. I never been his fan but really amazed by the character he brought out to life. In comparison to the last Joker acted by Jack Nicholson was great as well. But somehow both are different versions of Joker. Jack Nicholson face was kind of still with the frozen face and he likes to laugh alot. While Heath Ledger he acted a more scary version of The Joker. One who did not laugh much but has this scary monster like face and who talks a lot trying to deceive people into believing him and then "bang" he start kill them as he enjoyed doing. I do hope he will win an oscar for this movie. I wonder how they made the batman and joker's voice so different from their actual voice. Salute to Heath Ledger for a character very well played.

Firstly I am really amazed with Bat Man's car and the huge bike the car turn into after it was wrecked. Besides that I really find he was really heroic and the great prosecutor who later turn bad was great as well. Am sad how he turn out just because of the woman he loved at the end ................. not going to say too much incase you have not catch it.

I love the story, the twists, the great acting as well as the nice suit, cars and everything that comes in this movie. Other than "Iron Man", this is the best Super Hero movie this year.

Story : 5 stars
Acting/entertainment : 5 stars
Overall 5 stars

I also watched Hell Boy 2 I will give it a 4 stars. Special effects was amazing but still storyline was kinda average. While Hancock is just too plain to be compared to Hell Boy 2 nor The Dark Knight, I will give it 3 stars for the special effects and twist at end of the story. Will Smith acting was too dull in this movie. His acting in The Legend and other older movies were far much better.

Korean movie - 2 faces of my girlfriend
Found a link to watch this comedy online. It was hilarious. The main actor looks itself
already make the movie funny.

Do catch it if you have not.

http://www.mysoju.com/2-faces-of-my-girlfriend/

This english song was played towards end of the movie:

Tile :Gilbert O'Sullivan - Alone Again (Naturally)

This is lyrics from www.lyrics007.com

In a little while from now,

If I'm not feeling any less sour

I promised myself to treat myself

And visit a nearby tower,

And climbing to the top,

Will throw myself off

In an effort to make it clear to who

Ever what it's like when your shattered

Left standing in the lurch, at a church

Where people 're saying,"My God that's tough, she stood him up!

No point in us remaining.May as well go home."

As I did on my own,Alone again, naturally

To think that only yesterday,I was cheerful, bright and gay,

Looking forward to, but who wouldn't do,

The role I was about to play

But as if to knock me down,

Reality came around

And without so much as a mere touch,

Cut me into little piecesLeaving me to doubt,

All about God and His mercy

For if He really does exist

Why did He desert meIn my hour of need?

I truly am indeed,Alone again, naturally

It seems to me that There are more hearts

Broken in the world That can't be mended
Left unattendedWhat do we do? What do we do?(instrumental break)

Now looking back over the years,

And what ever else that appears

I remember I cried when my father died

Never wishing to have cried the tears

And at sixty-five years old,

My mother, God rest her soul,

Couldn't understand, why the only man

She had ever loved had been taken

Leaving her to start with a heart So badly broken

Despite encouragement from me

No words were ever spoken

And when she passed awayI cried and cried all day

Alone again, naturally

Alone again, naturally

Sick weekend
I have not been sick for sometime now then on friday started to have diarrhea and I had to cancel my fitness training. On friday night I was at movies bought ticket earlier for The Dark Knight. At first I would like to go home to rest then think about the good show I decided to buy more medicine to take with me so that I can continue with the movie. Movie was great but it was 2.5 hours long. I had to take all the pain and shivering (I had slight fever) till the end of the movie. In between I was so tired almost doze off (due to medicine) but I managed to finish the movie. I ran to the toilet after the movie and manage to catch my bus home at 11.20 pm. I went for doctor checkup he told me I had virus attack and my stomach pain was due to stomach flu. I rested whole day and cancel plan to go my colleague Open House.

Amazingly while getting bored resting at home I found good Korean drama websites to watch drama online. I completed 20 epis of latest Korean Drama Bad Love acted by famous Kwon Sang Woo. It was a tearjerker I used up alot of tissues watching it. Beginning was very good but towards middle getting a bit draggy I fastforward quite a bit that explains how I can finish in 24 hours 20 epis. It was good ending though.

While watching I felt sad for the lead actress. If I am her given a choice I rather not met her first love although her 2nd was the one for her and loved her the most. Due to her first love she suffered alot of pain. Her parents died due to her and she unable to be a famous musician due to injury caused by her lover's wife who beat her up after knowing she had an affair with her husband. I find one flaw though, why would she not explain that she was being cheated by her lover who never tell her he was married till they were together and pregnant her?

Bad news everywhere, what can be more worst than these?
I read these news and I think, why another case? I was quite surprised as this monk, he seems like a good man. Anyway no one will know just from the actions, everyone has his bad side and evilness in them that can come out one day and control them. All I can say is self control and how determine you are to supress these feelings. I heard from my colleague something about his friend's personal encounter with him which is negative so all I can say is "Ren Bu Ke Mao Xiang".

Recently I read all the bad news, political issues in Malaysia, Gay priests and now the Ren Ci Monk. Any good news for a change?

Here I share some of the links to the above bad and negative news. Sounds gloomy.......

Malaysia's bad news : Anwar Ibrahim charged

Latest: Anwar is being taken away by police:
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/asiapcf/07/16/ibrahim.malaysia.ap/index.html

http://www.radioaustralia.net.au/news/stories/200807/s2305096.htm?tab=asia
http://anwaribrahimblog.com/ [mostly in Malay if need translation let me know ]

My reaction: I go on as normal. My family don't sound worried at all about all these so why I should since I not even in Malaysia.

UK's bad news : First gay bishop in US
http://uk.reuters.com/article/UKNews1/idUKL1463566820080714
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7504003.stm

My reaction: Just ignore anyway I am not from Catholic nor I am part of Anglican church. Just take it as knowledge not to simply trust anyone not even priest nor bishop.

Now Singapore's bad news: Ren Ci Monk money scandal
http://www.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne+News/Singapore/Story/A1Story20080715-76853.html
http://sg.news.yahoo.com/cna/20080716/tap-407-head-ren-ci-hospital-venerable-s-231650b.html

Action: I will still donate to reputable charities but maybe not those on tv.

I find that most important I am happy, family is safe and I am satisfied with my own religious beliefs. I should not be affected by all these issues. Thank God for everything ! Amen !

Phone call - Scam (Be careful)
I have just shared this yesterday with all my colleagues, I would like to share with others too. While I was in Bangkok vacation I received many missed calls with no numbers. I was trying to figure out if any of my colleagues staying other Hotels been calling me so I called them but only found out none has called me. So I just leave it. Yesterday I receive call while I was in office and found a China lady's voice. Firstly she asked if I can speak mandarin. Not knowing her intention I said "Yes". Once she heard this she said she is calling from Hong Kong a big organization called XXXXX I cannot really hear exact name. Then she started asking me if I can spare her 2 minutes. I told her I cannot as I am busy working. Then she started to try convince me and kept asking me "Why? Just 2 minutes only" then I hung up.

I shared this with my colleagues who went Bangkok with me previously and later my Customer Service director replied my email and said he had same kind of call from a China lady. Later last night he sms me to tell me he just finish talking to her and he pretended he was a policeman. I am not sure how this turn out to be but we believed they are from a syndicate in China who tried to scam people. I did a few searching last night and came to following blogs, do visit and read up. It seems this happen last year alot in Malaysia and now they are coming to Singapore.

http://puppyprint.blogspot.com/2008/06/hk-disneyland-lucky-draw.html

From this blog I found this:
Which reminds me... how did they get my number in the first place?? I only got my number like 3 months ago, and i didn't give away my new number to many strangers in these 3 months... I came up with a few possibilities...1) They found my number in the YahooAuctions, Jobstreet, JobsDB..2) They got my number through lucky draw forms (which i remember only the KBox luckydraw)3) The companies which I applied jobs to sold my number to these scammer companies... Or the 'job companies' are the scammers in the first place. Besides govt jobs (which i have no doubts at all that they won't leak any confidential info to outsiders), i applied to 2-3 jobs under jobstreet.com which now i think it looks kinda dubious.4) I seldom give away my number to any surveys, esp what looks like insurance or MLM surveys. The only one i can remember is the bank survey during careerfair asking us to be insurance agents.5) The travel agency (when i went to Genting) sold my number to them.

My case is similar to this, the lady only said she is from Hong Kong company. This post includes disclaimer email from HK Disneyland:

HKTB STATEMENT ON MISREPRESENTATION CASES IN SINGAPORE AND MALAYSIA
In recent months, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) received several enquiries from Singapore and Malaysian customers who reported that they had received calls from representatives of some Hong Kong companies (Jiae Bao Science & Technology Co Ltd- 嘉宝科技股份有限公司, Hong Kong N.G Group-香港南光集團and names in Chinese only: 澳門新葡京旅遊公司,環球旅遊有限公司,富康旅遊集團, 香港半島度假休閒中心) claiming that they had organised a lucky draw in collaboration with the HKTB and customers who won prizes from the draw were being asked to provide personal data including identity card or bank account numbers. Some Singaporean customers were told to make a trip personally to Hong Kong to collect the prize money. In another case, the consumer was told that the call was for a survey commissioned by the HKTB. The HKTB wishes to alert all consumers to be wary as the Board is neither involved nor has appointed any representative or collaborated with any company in such promotions. Moreover, the 2007 Hong Kong Shopping Festival, which has ended on 31 August, does not have any lucky draw element.

These companies also infringed upon HKTB’s intellectual property rights by quoting HKTB’s Chinese / English name and using HKTB’s logo on their websites (www.yailite.com, www.jiuzou.com, www.jiaebao.com or www.hkng3c.com) without authorisation. The HKTB hereby reiterates that it does not have any affiliation or involvement with the websites.
The HKTB wishes to caution the public to exercise vigilance. If the public encounters suspicious cases or in doubt, they can contact HKTB Singapore Office at tel: 65-6336 5800 or email sinwwo@hktb.com to clarify.

Everyone be careful ! You might be the next target. As I share around, my colleagues said best to just tell them "I don't understand mandarin or don't speak mandarin" and hang up.

Bangkok Trip - Day 2
Joint 4 finance colleagues and one IT colleague and her husband to Grand Palace on 2nd day. We share and took 2 cabs to the destination arrived around 10 am. Before that we checked with the Hotel staff who told us no slippers but 3/4 pants acceptable but at entrance, my colleague's husband who wore slippers was stopped and then me and room mate were also stopped and ask to go borrow long skirt and pants. 300 Baht is collected as deposit refundable.

After getting our clothings we prepare to go but stopped by an interpreter cum Grand Palace guide who asked us for 100 Baht pp to bring us in Grand Palace. He can speak mandarin but was not veryfluent but his english is acceptable. 8 of us, he is going to collect 800 Baht. We try to bargain and he cut price to 500 Baht which at the end my colleagues asked for discount 100 Baht which he quickly refused and we just go in and not interested to hire him. (Our tour guide asked for 500 baht pp for Grand Palace tour including guide which we find too expensive)

I went to Grand Palace in 1997 and totally forgotten how beautiful the architecture was. I was totally mesmerised by the views. Its really worth while paying 300 Baht for the trip. We spent almost 2 hours in Grand palace started with the Museum where we take opportunity to go close to other tour guides explainingto China/Taiwan tourists the history of the items on display from previous Siam King. We saved 500 Baht and manage to listen to part of the history :)

After the trip some colleagues would like to go Wat Pho (Biggest sleeping Buddha) which according to Grand Palace information/police was just 5 mins walk but we walked and I believe it took us > 15 mins. Half way walking 2 colleagues ask a man for direction. The man seems nice enough to explain the location even suggested that we stop over 2 other temples and another place to see some items on sale and told us Wat Pho is now closed for ceremony. Please go at 2.30pm.

Then he started asking us where we are from and suggest 8 of us share tuk tuk. Then we realised that this might be a fake plot to trick us into going other places as what our tour guide reminded us on bus. So we thank him and left and continue to look for Wat Pho. Finally we found the place and true enough its not closed. Thank God we did not believe the man. Wat Pho has not much things to see except for the giant sleeping Buddha. I have seen the one at Penang which was also very big but it was not as tall and as shiny gold as this one. It really opened my eyes.

After this trip we decided to take cab back to Hotel. So 4 of us share one cab while the finance group took cab to Central World for lunch. We stopped many cabs all wanting to charge us 200 Baht for trip back hotel when our trip to Grand Palce only costs us 65 Baht. Finally one cab asked for 150 Baht and we just take it as cab driver explained that it was bad traffic jam on Sat they have to charge more. It is true the trip took like 40 mins to go back Hotel when we took 15 mins plusgoing to Grand Palace from Hotel earlier.

Due to our massage appointment at 3 pm, we decided to order room service to save time. Room service arrived but Susan'spork rice was not good. Pork was very hard she did not finish her lunch while my Chicken green curry was good. After having our lunch we went for foot massage and it was great. Later we left to go back Hotel but Susan realised that she left her handbag in toilet at Massage center. Driver called for us and help send us back to massage shop and Susan got her handbag from owner with everything intact.

Then lady boss explained thaqt she will pay for our cab back as her driver need to fetch other clients. When we board the cab, Susan realised he was using different route. I told her probably driver knows better route back as there is road block. Then out of sudden driver asked if we going Grand Diamond hotel then he shout at himself and said he made loss. He apologized to us for his outburst and continue to drive but can see he looked down. But we cannot help him since he was paid by the massage boss.

After that we changed and get ready for the Musical "Siam Niramit" (http://www.siamniramit.com/) . Van came to pick us and drop us at the place. We got discount ticket 200 Baht cheaper than normal price, good seat center of the theatre and 8th row from front. Very nice show totally mesmerised. Before the show we had free buffet dinner it was not great but still alright. Too crowded with tourists. The show ended 80 minutes and we are totally satisfied. Very good stage and there is even river on the stage. According to the tour guide this was best in Thailand. There are 2 one in Phuket (saw theshow as advertise but did not attend) and one in Pattaya. Glad we went for this show. After show we went back hotel and we both slept immediately. I actually doze off in van on way back to Hotel.

One problem I forgot to mention. Our room faced the main road and it was so noisy we can hear motorbike sound from one tothe other end. I could hardly sleep plus Susan was getting sicker each day she off the air cond as she was allergic to air cond. I was sweating like crazy I decided to move to sitting room and slept on sofa. But because sofa was small I did not sleep well during trip.Very tough for me :(

Day 1 at Bangkok
Me and Susan

In 1997, I was based in Bangkok to do pre-sales and to support one Japanese manufacturing ( my client ).I was based there for about 11 months stayed and come home every 3-4 weeks. Its been like 11 years and now going back was feeling kinda excited.

Tour guide from Jetview Travel came to pick us at Bangkok Terminal and while in bus she introduce herself as ACE her nick name. I recalled my customer in Thailand used to tell me most people in Thailand has nickname which isshort name easy to remember and greet them. She introduce Bangkok and places to visits in Bangkok and start recommending some shows and asked if we are interested can contact her. Then she highlight the importance when taking taxi or tuk tuk (small 2 wheel vehicle) that will con tourists into taking their rides with high charges or taking us to places to force us to purchase items.

Bangkok's tallest hotel and night view from 75th floor. Other 2
taken same hotel level 77.

Arrived and check in Grand Diamond hotel at about 9.30 am. Was feeling very tired and moody.2 pm then we will get our room keys. So decided to ask tour guide (ACE) to help book traditional massage 2 hours (500 Baht) for us. So we book slot at 11 am and back at 1 pm. We also decided to go for dining at this highest hotel Bayoke Skyview Hotel 76th floor and tour guide got it at 100 Baht cheaper at 800 Baht for 2 of us.

She was promoting Agua show (lady Boy) and Tiger show but me and my Susan were not keen. We decided to pay 1300 Baht for one musical call Sirim Nith which was highlyrecommended.
During that 1 hour waiting time me and my room mate Susan decided to go out for a walk. We walk around to get familiar with place. Bought some food at road side but Susan did not dare to eat due to the dusty environment and worried if the food was clean but I don't care. It was quite alright and nothing happened so far after eating.

This cute bags selling in one of the shops at Platinum

We later went in another building near our hotel whereits like Singapore Sim Lim Square much smaller and alot of small stalls and pirated vcds/dvds on sale.I cannot believe that I see Wall-E show on sale but did not dare to buy. We walk back to Hotel by 11 am and the driver came to pick us and send us to the massage center. When we arrive we are the only 2 customers and we really enjoyed it alot. Very refreshing andall our tiredness kinda go away. After we came back to Hotel, checkin took an hour rest then we prepare to go lunch. Saw Ace and she informed us to go to next door "Platinum Mall" level 6 for lunch.

We had our lunch and find the food rather great. There were other Singaporean tourists also ordering food there. After eating we saw a shop selling titbits and managedto get last pack of durian chips and many other packs of titbits which my friend ask meto get for him. After that we went shopping for about 1.5 hours. Susan manage to get a bag and also a tee for tomorrow's outing purpose.

Then we went back hotel and change for the dinner we book at the highest hotel in Bangkok. Susan change into dress and high heels but I warn her that we need to walk quite a distance if she would like to change some more comfortable shoes but she insists that she can. Then we walk out about 6 pm across our hotel but turn wrongly to left instead of right junction and end up walking for 15 mins but could not find link road to hotel though we are very closeby. Then we decided to stop for cab. I told Susan to bargain for taxi. First cab stop but after knowing location is so close refused to take us. Then we stop 2nd taxi who asked for 80 Baht before agree to take us. The actual price should be around 35 baht for such close distance.

We later went up to 18th floor to collect our dinner voucher. A korean actor look alike person greet us and lead us to the reception to collect voucher. Then after collected lead us to the lift that will bring us to 75th floor. We were excited then when reach 75th floor we realised the place was packed with tourists mostly from Korea, Japan, Taiwan and probably HK too. And we got a table just 2 of us at corner. I can see Susan was quite disappointed. But the food varieties were good. Just a bit disappointed the Western food was not tasty. We ate quite a bit then try to look at scenary and find that Bangkok night scenary was not as good as other places. Then we walk up to 76th. 77th and 78th floor. At 77th floor there are a few places we can take our photos and we enjoyed the photo sessions. There are also a number of magicians in clown suit that entertained us. All these free of charge. After we decided to go back to Hotel when realised alot of tourists has left and hotel staff were clearing the tables. So we decided to stop for cab but hotel person direct us how to walk out to our hotel wo need of taxi. Then we realised we use wrong way earlier. This is how our 1st day in Bangkok turn out to be.

Horrible last day in Bangkok 13th July
Today I am on urgent leave to take good rest and break after terrible last day in Bangkok (BKK). Reached Singapore around 11.30pm after check out from immigration and wait for luggage reach home like 12.45 am after drop one colleague who share cab with me. I was home take bath by 1 am then I had to send out one email to my boss to apply leave and another email to HR to complain about this trip.

Everything was fine on first 2 days. Since its a free and easy trip we are to take care our ownselves and find our group to go out shopping or sightseeing ourselves. I was with my room mate most of the time as we want to go sighseeing before shopping and reserve shopping to last day. (I will share details or first 2 days trip later).

Then my colleague she fall sicker and sicked from 2nd day onwards. She has spent alot of time sleeping and resting. So I decided that why not she rest on last day then we go out shopping after checkout from hotel around 12.30 pm. We walk to Central World which many of my colleagues has gone past 2 days. We wanted to go buy "wacoal" stuff (female should know what we are buying la). We got what we wanted then go for lunch and then walk back to Platinum mall where alot of cheap clothings, bags and titbits.

We have 45 mins before 4.30pm where our tour bus will arrive to pick us. Then after we complete shopping most of items at level 5, my colleague wanted to get 3 tees but she saw some costume jewellery and decide to go for that and choosing. I see we have about 5-7 mins left so I sms one colleague to inform her pls ask bus to wait as we just next door be back very soon. She told me "Oh, bus left wo 2 of you now turning back to fetch you" then another same IT dept colleague sms me to ask why I was. It seems that 30 of us supposed in the bus but there happen to be 2 "Foreigners" meaning not belong to my company in same bus. The tour guide has miscounted these 2 people as part of us so assume 30 people were already on board and left the Hotel about 8-10 mins before the time 4.30 pm.

I am so shocked, I shouted at my colleague to leave now no time to buy bus leaving. Then we ran as fast as possible from 5th level down despite alot of people in escalators and reach hotel before 4.30pm and I was almost out of breath. I saw the tour guide she said "Oh you two ah, don't worry bus will wait we won't leave you behind". (What a joker, she even announced later in bus when we leave not to worry we wont leave you behind. Then why the bus leave and turn back?? She said bus has to go because cannot park, please lah want to explain also give a better reason)

I had to go and catch a breath before get up the bus and scream for the RC member who was supposed to do headcount. He came walking slowly towards me (look afraid) I asked him "Did you do any headcount? How can you leave 2 of us behind?" He was quiet but said "Yes" meaning he did count. I don't know how he counted and how we can be missed out. I am fuming angry this is my 3rd trip and first time the trip being arranged this way.

Also not forgetting bus broke down on way to airport, we have to wait for another bus to pick us. Tour guide mentioned we have to take care of what is still on blus the bus driver will help with luggage. While getting down the bus saw Susan and my luggages actually were placed near exit. Lucky I noticed and asked Susan to take her luggage while another male colleague help me with one of my luggages. Then at Bangkok gate waited quite long for departure. Then Tiger airways staff informed that flight was full and those who did not manage to get seat will have to get next days' flight. Flight was delayed for like 20 mins.

Did HR brief the RC member his responsibilities clearly? If bus leave us behind we take cab to airport, can we claim from company or tour agent?? I am so dead tired today I had to take leave while my colleague has to take MC as she got very sick now. If I did not apply leave I think I will fall sick. I wrote complain email to HR in morning at 1.18 am as I am still angry how this has happened. Someone has to look into this and make sure it wont happen next time.

19th Golden Melody Awards review by panel judge
(http://blog.chinatimes.com/chris/Archive/2008/07/10/297514.html)

I won ......... I will get my both prizes at last

Last week when July/Aug issue FF newsletter was released I am very surprised my name was listed as one of the 3 who won last issue quiz. The prizes were FF PREMIUM membership and 1 month membership for my friend, I checked with FF AMK Hub counter staff told me to wait for call to collect prize.

Last night receive call from AMK Hub staff that their marketing told them only 1 month membership for my friend and asked me when I can collect it and I have to personally sign for the gift,

Then I asked how about Premium membership? He told me no, marketing did not say. Walao I am very pissed. I told him how can you expect me to accept only half the prize? Can you tell your marketing that why would I want to spend time do the quiz submit it to WIN A GIFT FOR MY FRIEND??

The next thing is he said will check and call me back. He later call me to say that his manager has wrote to their marketing to ask them what happen to the Premium Membership and promise will let me know the outcome asap.

Updates July 14th:
On Friday I received call from the same guy while I was in Bangkok that I will get both prizes and asked me when I collect them. Surprisingly no apologies nor explanations. Anyway since I am not in Singapore I did not ask further just update this entry and remove my earlier posting abt the complains since they were no longer needed.

Bangkok here I come !

Honestly my last US trip was fun but was really tiring. So I find that I really needed a break coz working non-stop ever since back from US and so much work everyday. Coming Friday will be nice to go for another holiday, in Bangkok this time. Yes its company sponsored trip for Singapore Perm employees.

In 2006, I join the Hong Kong trip, last year Taiwan and now I chose Bangkok. Well, the budget getting less each year. Before there are 2 trips a year. Now its just one and the amount getting less both due to increase head counts and next reason is US dollar rate getting lower.

I used to work alot in Thailand fly through Bangkok but 3 hours to another province. If not wrong is Prachinburi area. Its already 10 years have passed. I not been to Bangkok since 1998. Here this news when I was there in 1997, the new IBM factory is under building. The area has a lot of new manufacturing plants.
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9803E1D81E3CF937A35751C1A960958260
Exact 10 years. This is where I used to stay a golf resort.(FYI only golf driving range available). Anyway I am there to stay but never go anywhere. Frequent visits to Thai Traditional massage, restaurant and Karaoke to pass time.
http://www.tawaravadeehotel.com/en/about.php
Will be staying at following hotel this weekend:

http://www.ehotelplus.com/bangkok-hotels/grand-diamond-bkk/

Following what I plan to do:
1. Shop for food
2. Shop for souvenirs
3. Shop for wacoal products (hmm female only)
4. Shop for leather goods
5. Thai Traditional/Foot Massage
6. Maybe spa too !
7. Sightseeing

I am less interested in sightseeing as in 1997 I was there for a long time and have seen most of the places. Like Grand Palace, River ride, etc

Looking forward to Friday.

Bad week for me
I like to play this song by Daniel Powter "Bad Day" as last week has been bad for me.
Following are the events that happened which I would say unexpected and cause me alot of time:

1. July 1st - Lost bus card holder and tag at gym (within 20 mins try find it at changing room but its gone) - I went to get new cards paid $30 for 2 cards. On average each year I loose one card :(

2. July 4th - Took wrong bus no 14 instead of 16 end up 1 hour ride instead of 10 mins. Last to arrive at venue when supposed to be the first

3. July 5th - Lost house keys while changing at gym. Only discover after 8 pm when reach home. Called gym no sign of keys. Its just 3-4 hours after I left gym :(
I end up stay at friend's house (Thanks to Judy for allowing me to sleep over last minute). July 6th I watched 2 movies and shop for 6 hours to pass time. Manage to get home finally at 1 am when my landlord came back from his temple activity.

What a week. Look forward to better week this week!

Life - Article on talent scout programs and WL
Read the online version of this Life! article athttp://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2BNews/Showbiz/STIStory_254241.html

July 3, 2008

Talent shows hot up BACK in 1988, the only talent show on local TV was Channel 8's Star Search, a biennial talent quest that unearthed Zoe Tay. Now, Singapore's Mandarin TV landscape is dotted by no fewer than four talent searches. Following the highly popular Project Superstar in 2005, which sought to discover singing talents, is a rash of others produced by MediaCorp. Campus Superstar sought to find the best student singer in 2005, and Superband and Superhost the best band and best host in 2006.

All of these shows follow the monstrously successful formula of hit American TV series American Idol - and the local franchise Singapore Idol - which has a panel of judges offering live comments after each contestant's performance. The contestant with the lowest votes from TV viewers is eliminated weekly until a final winner emerges. Making a return last month was the second season of Superband, which attracted 400 bands to audition in April. Industry insiders say there is good reason such contests show no signs of abating.

These talent-scouting exercises are a good way of injecting the local entertainment industry with a continuous stream of fresh faces, they observe. For example, Project Superstar discovered the visually handicapped winner Kelvin Tan, who has gone on to enjoy tremendous success with two albums each selling over 15,000 copies here.
