HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008 EVERYONE!!!

Hello friends

Wish everyone a Happy New Year, may the new year be blessed

with happiness and good health to all that I know.

Just countdown with a few friends at Bugis and back by 1 am by train. Seems alot of cabs queueing for passengers very different from previous years.

Even my fitness trainer also have countdown session with friends, he started my training early at around 7.10pm until 8.10pm. Today I had to carry 3kg ball and perform the squad followed by stand about 80 times. Previously the ball only weight around 0.5kg.

Seems the difficulties getting more and do wish me well in my fitness training hohoho!

I finally did it !
Well I have always wanted to signup for fitness center been thinking and choosing should I pick one in city, near to my office or near to my home? Should I go for CA Fitness at Bugis or Planet Fitness at Suntec or Planet Fitness where I stay? After more than 10 months I still cannot decide but finally I signup with "Fitness First" which is nearest to my home. Since I can claim from my company around half of the membership I should do so since right now I felt pretty unhealthy. My legs cramp easily and sometimes I get muscle pull when I wake up from sleep, bad body ache back, legs, shoulder basically all over etc etc for past 2 months.

Finally on Dec 22nd I signed up and on 23rd I met my trainer Mike. He is a nice guy with sense of humor and has goatie like WL (haha WL shaved his goatie when he left for Beijing). Then there is this machine where I was asked to stand on it and Mike just have to enter my height and my body fat % will be calculated in few minutes. (Sound like magic machine hoho). Finally Mike informed me the BIG and HORROR news that people my age will have body fat healthy % around 21 to 26. But mine was 46%, God I thought I only stop weighing myself for about 10 months, kept blaming myself for eating heavy lunch right before for this appointment but Mike was kind enough to tell me he has already buffer in % for that. (Wow so honest of him, why can't he make me happy by not saying that leh? Haiz............)

Anyway this is it, I know the time has come for me to burn my pocket and signup for one to one trainer. Thank God I can pay installment for this and did not feel that much pain in paying for this, for good health this money is worth paid. I want to get rid of my 4 months baby (which refers to my huge spare tyre) and my giant thighs which has almost doubled since 2004. I felt this has been the reason for my legs frequent cramps. Finally I asked Mike how is the package like and he said there are 2 package 10 sessions or 30 sessions he recommends that was promotion for me as I pay for 25 sessions and get 5 free. When I signup for the membership I have been given 2 free sessions with trainer and with that in total I had 32 sessions. Mike told me this would last me for max of 5 months which is good. Knowing myself I know I will stop going gym after 2 months so I must be discipline and force myself through.€

Wow finally I went to do 40 minutes of cardio, machines etc, tried around 4 different machines to start warmup myself. Mike said for 1st try start slow. So roughly I burnt around just 125 calories for my first workout. Then my next session on 25th Dec. Mike arranged for my sessions to be 3 times a week with him for first month and I had to go once more to train on my own or attend other classes like yoga etc. My 2nd training was much better I manage to do longer trainings and burnt around 200+ calories for 1 hour session. My body only felt pain after 1st session but from 2nd session onwards it seemed fine.

On my 3rd training I went on my own on 27th Dec to train 1 hour, I basically tried Cardio 30 mins, cycling 15 mins, and another 15 mins on 3 different weight lifting machines. This time I managed to burn around 250 calories. I am so happy that day. While I was trying cardio, Mike saw me and try to give me a scare by hitting my back and then hide himself. I was listening to my MP3 and was shocked how come my friend was here but realised its Mike. He said that he was glad to see me working hard (Phew! Glad I went else I will get one warning from Mike). Mike said he is LOOKING FORWARD to train me next session (Wow! Sounds tough man!)

Finally today my 4th training and also 3rd session by Mike. I went 30 mins earlier so I can get 20 mins to train on Cardio on my own to warmup my body. Mike came and look for me and asked me to go to do REAL trainings. Finally I realised those cardio, machines etc is nothing compared to the tough trainings he was going to give me. I was first asked to carry a ball with my arms stretch out and squad and up and squad 20 times followed by another up and down steps 20 times and in total I did 100 times squad and 100 times steps. I was damn hungry towards the last round but Mike said I can do it, so I have to do it. Finally its over and my sweat was dripping from head down to face and I kept wiping it and kept drinking water.

To my shock, I had another round of different routines, this time I had to squad and pretend to sit with holding the ball another 20 times and do it 5 times. Towards the end I felt so tired around my arms and then was asked to train my legs stamina. I was asked to sit on weight machine and use my legs to lift the weight. I did this for another 5 rounds of 10 times each. Towards the end I kept breathing hard and had to drink lots of water. I told Mike I believe tonight I will have great sleep as I am soooooooooooo tired ! Mike laughed and agreed with me totally. Sweet dreams, Pat ! HaHa! I only kept thinking of getting nice bath and relax myself but I have another appointment to go in Clementi. So quickly went to take bath and changed and then get my butt to the taxi stand to go Clementi as I 'bo lat' to take MRT then walk as I am soooooooo hungry and tired. On the way I pack sausage with prata from nice store at basement. The way prata was fried was without oil and its using much less oil to cook which suit my diet now.

Just a note now I don't go for late dinners, no dinner appointments unless its important meetings for next 5 months not at least until my workout see real results. Food wise I have to cut down desserts (sweets), rice/noodles, oily and fried food. I can still eat meat but must not be fried and moderately. Best to eat fish, seafood. I was able to refrain myself from eating meat recently. In fact after just 1 week I can feel results my tummy is tighter and reduced at least half an inch. I get less bloated stomach. Also I tried to eat grapefruit 2-3 times a week to help in digestion. Cut down breakfast, only taking oats and plain wheatmeal bread. Lunch no rice, light food like yong tau foo. Try to eat mee suah or bee hoon soup instead of any noodles or rice.

Mike suggested I eat 5 smaller meals a day rather than 3 full meals. By cutting down breakfast and lunch, I have managed to keep my appetite smaller. Dinner I will eat twice once around 4-5pm light one and another time at around 6-7pm or later if I have trainings. For the meals that I eat less when I felt hungry I will drink a cup of hot Milo and it works. Milo gives me energy for workouts plus its filling, I will eat less meat when I drink Milo. I also bought energy bar which comes with more energy than calories. In between the day when I felt hungry I will eat some. 1 bar I can eat for 4-5 times as snacks in between smaller meals.

I hope to keep track of this and see results after 1 month. I do not care how many kg I loose but most important is I would like to maintain my body fat at around 24-25% rather than 46% at end of 5 months from now which is May 08. I will update again soon after I train for my 8th time. Hopefully by then I can reduce at least 2-3% fats with strict diet and trainings 4 times a week. Wish me all the best ba.

Christmas and shopping spree 2007
I cannot believe it but I did spend more than $200 at AMK Hub Five elements buying a number of bracelet and necklace. Initially wanted to get a new white gold chain budget around $300 since mine broke last year. But this SK sales assistant told me they do not have the length I was looking for and no stock. They do not know when stock will come in (to my disbelief??). I can only say what a lousy sales assistant, did not even try to promote any other necklace for me (do I look like I do not have the money to buy?) Anyway I manage to find the chain I want just gold plated like above photo at just $18 after 5% discount. I was told I need to get 3 necklace to get the 5% discount so I bought 2 more necklace only to end up buy couple more as I can get VIP member plus other benefits. I bought 2 birthday gift in advance for my friends coming birthdays Jan~Feb.

A bit difficult to take photos so just have sneak preview, all the chains are unique, bought the last one as its heartshape. The first 2 I can wear to formal functions (well I have one coming March wedding). I was told not to sweat too much on the chain and not to wear them to take bath so I have to take real good care of them. This is one disadvantage of not purchasing real gold jewellery but the price is so so cheap and they look really nice. The necklace with pendant came in a set and costs about $25~$30 after discount.

The one in the black case is flowery bracelet love this alot. Imported from Paris and handmade most expensive item I paid for at this shop at about $40. The white gold plated is a real nice necklace with 2 faces. Difficult to take zoom photos so will just see a preview.

This is branded "Coach" bag from US. My colleague Susan help me to get it from Washington DC discounted price of about US$270+ which is in SGD around $390 which is much cheaper as in Singapore you have to pay above $600 for the same bag. This bag will replace my hunger for the Louis Vutton bag that I have been looking for in Taiwan, HK and Singapore LV shops but still out of stock after so many months. I will no longer wait for the LV bag which costs triple the price of this but a bit bigger in size. Bye to my LV dreambag ~~!!

Bought this handbag a week ago adidas and after discount cost me around $60/- Now in my closet waiting for my time to use it when its right

One tee for $9 good bargain comes in different colors. Loved the material. Keep it for New Year.

One tee for $10, bought 2, good for exercises as the material is very light and can absord sweat

I have more items but not able to take photos yet will add on soon !
Note: The shopping items were purchased between Nov~Dec period not purchase at the same time but I update together easier for me.

My new year resolution
I have been thinking of new year resolution but still have not conclude but following are some of what I need to set target for coming 2008:

(a) Active year - I want to be more active, must setup schedule for cleaning my room, iron clothings plus to do exercise regularly (maybe jog once a week) reduce 21% of my current fat level (Ha Ha)
(b) Healthy year - I want to eat healthy, less and 5 smaller meals a day
- Every morning I must take a big bottle of water, wholemeal bread for
breakfast and 1 calcium pill
- Eat each meal moderately, if hungry drink more water
- Eat more fruits and vegetable
(c) Holy year - I must set sometime for God, read bible, study bible and listen more christian songs

Hopefully these 3 items I set target for 2008 can be done

This view is from the entrance of the christmas tree.

I have been trying to snap photos of Christmas decor around Singapore but just could not find any time. Finally I manage to snap some from AMK HUB. This should be first time AMK HUB has christmas decor since it just opened around March this year.

New mobile Sony Ericsson K530i
Closeup photo of my new mobile its greyish brown color

Phone with accessories

Recently I invested some of my CPF fund for investments through Prudential and got myself a pretty great phone. I went to collect it at AMK Hub with my letter but was told it was out of stock. I went again 2 days later and a glimpse of it enough to make me fall in love with my new phone. I did not expect to like this phone but it was slim and light and key pad much better than my 11 month old N73 which I seldom use due to numerous reasons. Well now I have 4 phones which include my office Black Berry Curve which I got it 2 months ago. I am going to give my mum my old Samsung which is about 2 years old. Will keep my N73 and this Sony ericsson baby with me.

Though this phone came free but I thought why not I get some accessories and decide to purchase the wireless bluetooth Headset HBH-DS970 which I can listen to songs and answer phone calls through this device rather than holding the phone. I looked at the demo video played in the shop it was pretty interesting to know that Sony Ericsson phones not only looked better than nokia but has a number of interesting accessories. Tested this wireless device and was pretty impressive got it for $98 which was the offer price and $58 for the memory card which is not the same mini SD I have for my other phones. I also joint the orange club as the membership not only comes with discount but for any repairs I will be given loan phone while waiting for my phone to be repaired and other benefits. In future if I get accesories or phones from this shop I can get further discounts and I got myself extra battery for discounted price.

So in total I spent around $200+ for accessories for my free phone, seems like I start to be obsessed with my new toy :P
