Article from Sin Min 29-Mar to explain 22-Mar wrong headlines
Finally Sin Min publish an accurate report 29-Mar to explain on their previous report.
Hope this papers will learn their mistake and not to do same trick again in getting readers for their papers which is loosing readers. Honestly I prefer Wan Bao these days vs Sin Min. If they still use such trick to get readers they will loose more than gain. The photo of very few people sitting at the auditorium was taken not during performance but when audience have fully arrived at the venue.

Believe it or not below news and url link I was the one found it and inform WLFC person-in-charge to put link up at Wei Lian's chinese blog. I was very surprised myself to have known that Wei Lian was first Asian to have such detailed profile along with so many other famous blinds from the West.

Support and post your comments at following forum to support NTU charity and Wei Lian !
Dear fans

You are encouraged to post comments at these 2 forum links to support NTU charity and Wei Lian against what Sin Min has done in writing a twisted report and attacking solely Wei Lian unfairly when he is doing his part in charity for free and turnout for the charity event is definitely not related to his popularity.

Boycott Sin Min papers - read this
I was still in US when I was informed by one of Wei Lian's die hard fan that the NTU charity news was headlines in Sin Min and what was published was totally twisted and wrongly judged by the reporter from this night paper.

This is the link to the news dated 22nd Mar -
http://showbiz.omy.sg/Showbiz/E-News/Story/OMYStory200903221715-49715.html

As I have earlier posted last minute the news that Wei Lian will be performing, he was invited to guest perform at the charity event. Even for me I only know it about 10 days before I left for US and even the artiste himself was not aware until I check with Warner Music. At that time Warner Music promotion person told me that they are still negotiating and its still not confirmed and only confirmed it few days before I left for US trip.

I was greatful when I was told that Warner Music has sent a letter to Sin Min to express their unhappiness over what Sin Min published using that performance to state that Wei Lian's popularity was down and the turnout was poor but in fact the whole charity exceed their targeted 7,000 fund raising, the organizer (Red Cross ) has collected more than 9,000 for the event and thank Wei Lian and FC for their support. Wei Lian did not get paid for his appearance and he did it out of his interest in charity. There was also no money spent on promoting the event the tickets were sold to NTU students and WLFC.

This is video of Wei Lian performing a self composed new song from coming album:

Few days after another student from NUS approached Wei Lian at his blog to invite him to appear in another charity appearance. If Wei Lian's popularity is as what is stated in the Sin Ming article, will NUS approach him again?

Comment from: Suyi [Visitor]
Hi wei lian, Actually I would like to ask whether you would like to grace a performace on 17 May 2009 at our carnival entitled Volunteerism- SPREAD It organised by NUS Science Volunteer club at Tampiness Mall. This carnival is hosted with many performances from different students organisation and also food and drink stalls to attract crowds. but most importantly, it is to promote Volunteerism to the public. We are inviting VWO (voluntory welfare organisation) to set up their booths for free,so that people will actually be more knowledgeable about volunteering in Singapore. Ms Eunice Olsen will be the Guest of Honour for this event and SMRT has kindly agree to sponsor our advertising..

This is the content of Warner Music's letter. (http://www.weiliankelvin.com/blog/)

I will not buy Sin Min papers anymore and urge my friends and Wei Lian fans to also consider their papers unprofessional in writing and publishing articles that are twisted and trying to create news just to sell their papers unless they apologize and reprint their news that is the truth and not one sided crap story.

1st post from Irvine CA
This trip was quite last minute. I was asked in Feb 2009 if I can go to US for one month. I turned down giving the situation that I am committed to serve 2-3 times a month on sunday at church and being only person in Singapore I have to settle my bills on time or find someone to help me pay while I am not in Singapore. Nevertheless I end up having chicken pox 2 weeks and finally I am going for 2 weeks and I am now in Irvine, CA since 15th March.

All my 4 other colleagues were at US office but they all left early than planned I did not meet any of them except my dotted line boss who was here with me 2 days before he fly back to Singapore. As I have not converted my Malaysian driving license I could not move about freely as I wish. But fortunately I am not as bored and lonely as I thought being only person here from Singapore IT and no car.

I bought Begawan Solo for my IT colleagues in US. I distributed it to them and I was surprised this time everyone was happy to see me and many of them came to look for me at my room and chat with me. Its like really long time friends everyone excited about the ERP upgrade project and seeing me. In fact my dept only has 5 female staff but 4 are analysts. In my track (OM) 3 of us are female and we worked together in this fit / gap to go through the list of enhancements vs new features in PSFT 9.0.

First few days I am so badly affected by timezone difference I slept just 3 hours a day. But 2 nights ago I managed to sleep 7 hours straight. But today I kind of slept 4 hours and then wake up and try to do other stuff seeing I have 3-4 hours more before preparing for work.

I am going to post another blog entry about what I did.

AI 8 - Top 13 review
Tonight there are great performers but there are also many who sang badly due to wrong song choice.

I am totally wowed by 2 really great performers Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert!

My bottom 3 : Anoop, Jasmine and Megan. (Hope Megan will leave DISLIKES her dance moves).

My top 4 : Danny, Adam, Lil and Alexis

Anoop was disappointing as he choice "Beat It" which no one can outsing MJ. And his vocals was terrible. He has many female fans and believe they would vote for him and he would be save for time being.

I did not really like Michael and Scott's song choice as it kinda bore me but both of them have many fans who will vote like crazy and they should be safe for another week.

Let's see results tomorrow.

Wei Lian's first overseas award in his music career

Radio Cakrawala 98.3 FM Mandarin Station of our neighbour country Indonesia, Wei Lian’s rendition of “Voices from the heart” won the“Xing Feng Bang Nian Du Zui Jia Jin Qu” (星丰榜年度最佳金曲) Award (Xing Feng Bang Annual Golden Song Award) end of last year. This definitely came as a surprise for Wei Lian and his fans and supporters.

Blind contestant got into top 12 - American Idol 8
After watching last group of top 36 contestants sang below is my personal view.

Last night I watched American Idol 8 3rd rop of 12 contestants and picked my favourites. There are just so many good singers and performers last night.

The best so far I would say is Lil whom I believe will definitely get a place in top 12. Others that I like Kristen, Alex, Ju'not, Felicia.

The ones that I feel alright but not my favourite like Von, Scott and Jorge.

There are just so many its pretty hard to choose. Below is what I predicted.

Most likely go to top 12 because of votes: Scott, Von

Most likely go to top 12 because of performance : Felicia, Jorge

I would specially liked to mention Scott the blind contestant performed. He was in top 36. But this week more than half the contestants performed well so its pretty hard to predict who are the top 3 that will go to final 12.While watching Scott who like Wei Lian is blind and also do not wear sunglasses and he has big beautiful eyes.

Looking at him you really not notice that he is blind. He sat on a chair in the middle of the small stage and then stood up middle of the song walk around then try to lower his body and then raise couple of times during performance when lyrics mention 'high' and 'low'.

He did put it a lot of effort to try his best to perform despite not able to see the audience. One set back though the song was not a well known song and I find it a bit boring. His vocals was not that great last night too. There are many other better singers. But I do wish him well and hope to see him going to finals.

I was rather surprised judges like Simon, Paula was calling for voters to vote for him and provide a lot of positive comments despite his vocals not as expected and very supportive of Scott. Despite having millions of fans watching worldwide the judges are not afraid of complaints that will come in for openly asking people to vote for Scott.

In Singapore for example if judges were to did this there will be fans calling for unfairness and injustice to the contestant they are supporting despite just having couple of hundreds of thousands fans watching. Do hope Singaporeans who watch this competition can learn something from these judges.

Let's hope tonight Scott can go into top 12 for this season's American Idol.

Latest results announced and Scott has successfully went into finals:

Beware of what soy products you eat !!!
I received this from a friend who works in a Pharmaceutical company in Singapore. After reading I am totally shocked.

Ladies, jus note that all food shd be consume in moderation otherwise its gonna cause us probs in long term.... Stay Healthy, Eat Well :)

Subject: To Soya/Tofu lovers: Females must read... To Soya/Tofu lovers FYI, ONE WOMAN'S STORY ON SOYA... All Males - PLEASE pass this info to ALL your female friends...

It may save their lives! Something to take note of.

This is my true story, nothing altered. These are facts, as they relate to my experience, my opinions based on what I have read and felt. I am relating them to warn other young health-conscious women who are unwittingly harming themselves. In 1989, I graduated from high school in Texas and couldn't wait to hit the big college city. One of the changes I wanted to make was to eat healthier.

Once I moved to health-conscious Austin , Texas , I began to fortify my body with the best and healthiest foods I could find. Tofu was the main ingredient in every healthy dish and I bought soya milk almost every day used it for everything from cereal to smoothies or just to drink for a quick snack. I bought soya muffins, miso soup with tofu, soybeans, soybean, sprouts, etc. All the literature in all the health and fitness magazines said that soya protected you against everything fr! om! heart ! disease to breast cancer. It was the magical isoflavones, the estrogen-like hormones that all worked to help you stay young and healthy.

I looked great - I was working out all the time, but my menstrual cycle was off. At 20, I started taking birth control pills to regulate my menstrual cycle. In addition to this I began to suffer from painful periods. I began to get puffy, it was as though I was losing my muscle tone. I began to suffer from depression and getting hot flashes. I mistook all this for PMS since my periods were irregular.

By ! ;t! he time! I was 25, my periods were so bad, I couldn't walk. The birth control pills never made them regular or less painful so I decided to stop taking them. I went on like this for another two years until I realized my pain wasn't normal. At 27, my gynecologist found two cysts in my uterus. Both were the size of tennis balls. I went through surgery to have them removed and thank God they were benign. The gynecologist told me to go back on birth control pills. I didn't.

In 1998, he discovered a lump in my breast. Again, I went through surgery and a gain it was benign. In November 2000 my glands swelled up and my gums became inflamed. Thinking I had a tooth infection I went to the dentist who told me that teeth were not the problem. After a dose of antibiotics the swelling still did not go down. At this point I could feel a tiny nodule on the right side of my neck.

I told my mother I had thyroid trouble. She thought I was being silly. No one in the family suffered from thyroid trouble. Going on a hunch I saw a specialist who diagnosed me with Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma. After a series of tests he told ! me! it was! cancer. My fiance and I sat stunned. We were not prepared and I was so scared.

We scheduled surgery right away. The specialist told us that it would only be after the operation that a pathologist would be able to tell us for sure if it was cancer. They found a tumor at my right lobe composed of irregular cells and another smaller tumor growing on the left, so the entire thyroid was removed. They told me that after undergoing radioactive iodine I would be safe and assured me that I could live a long life. After treatment I began to search for the cause of all these problems.

I never once thought it could be all the soya I had consumed for nearly ten years. After all, soya is healthy. I came upon a web page that linked thyroid problems to soya intake and the conspiracy of soya marketed as a by-product of the vegetable oil industry. This was insane, after all, the health and fitness magazines had said nothing about soya being harmful. I visited a herbalist who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 1985. She informed me that soya was the culprit. She had a hysterectomy due to cysts and other uterine problems.

A few months later another acquaintance who had consumed soya came down with thyroid cancer. A girl in England I met through the Internet in a thyroid cancer forum had just undergone surgery and she was only 19. What was going on? Breast cancer is linked to estrogen. What mimics estrogen in the female body, SOYA! But I never suspected soya because until now I never once found a single article that stated soya could be dangerous. Women who took soya prior to thyroid problems will continue to take it after if they are not aware of what soya actually does, what it contains and how it reacts in the female body.

I think this is the reason that women with thyroid cancer often develop breast cancer later. My co-worker is big into soya and I see her losing hair and gaining weight despite a walking workout during her break and after work, and apples and oranges for lunch. She just had cysts removed from her uterus too. I warned her to stay off soya. I referred her to websites but until it is on the evening news on all four networks, women will suffer. Since the thyroidectomy, I do not touch soya, haven't for two years. Dear readers, Please use my story in any way you can.

There are so many young girls who are consuming soya because ! th! ey thin! k they are taking care of themselves, and women taking soya because they want to be healthy. It is so unfair that the information about the dangers of soya isn't more widely circulated. It is sad.
