My new Nokia E71
I have this Sony Ericsson W910i which I had for about 6-8 months but hardly used. Main reason is because of the key pad. I am so used to having separate buttons for A to Z and cannot get used to the flat key pad. I tried to SMS but was so slow that I stopped using it. Since it was under utilised I decide to sell it and get a new phone close to my current company Blackberry.

So I finally come to these 2 models both with good reviews.

Nokia E71 and Motorola Q9h.

After checking online reviews and price I finally decided on E71 due to it has a lot more features ( its about $240 more than Q9h). I like the slim body of E71 and sleek design. I decided on grey color as it looked more suitable for business usage than the white one. My friend's friend own one and been using for a month plus with no issues. Hope I will enjoy the new phone.

Interesting movie - 20th century Boys
I catch this movie with my friend tonight and find the storyline interesting. But I was surprised after about 2.5 hours watching the movie, there was no ending and the word "To be continued" appeared.

There was nothing mentioned about this movie having multiple parts but it does interest me to catch the next part so that I can know who is the bad guy among the group of childhood friends.

If you like Japanese manga or heroic movies, this movie is recommended.

As expected there are 3 parts of the movies based on original comic:

Read this if you are in China studying now
http://sg.news.yahoo.com/afp/20081016/tap-china-food-safety-child-university-8d4ea94.html

SHANGHAI (AFP) - - Dairy products that were recalled in southern China to be tested for the deadly chemical melamine were instead dumped at universities and sold to students at a discount, state media reported Thursday.

The milk products were sold in supermarkets and student dormitories in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, the Xinhua news agency said, citing a local newspaper.

In one university supermarket, bulk boxes of Mengniu milk and Yili yogurt -- both suspected brands -- were sold for less than 20 yuan (2.90 dollars), or about half the original price, the report said.

The tainted milk scandal emerged when melamine, a chemical normally used to make plastics, was discovered in dairy products produced by dairy giant Sanlu.

The melamine was mixed into the milk to give it the appearance of higher protein levels.

More than 20 Chinese dairy firms were subsequently found to have made tainted products, including milk powder for babies, yoghurt and liquid milk.
Four babies died and at least 53,000 others fell ill after consuming contaminated dairy products, according to official figures.
China this week announced an urgent recall of all dairy products made before September 14 to test them for traces of melamine.
Most of the products sold to students were made before September 14 and should not have been on offer unless they were tested and labelled as safe, the newspaper said.

Despite the potential health concerns, the ultra-cheap offers proved too tempting for some in Guangzhou, including Chen Gang, a student who normally does not drink milk.
"It's so cheap. I can save some money. I am quite healthy. I guess there would be no problem for me to drink just a little bit," Chen was quoted as saying by the Guangzhou Daily.

Another student, who was not named, said he was hired by milk dealers to peddle the products door-to-door in dormitories, according to the report.

Singapore men put love on hold on financial worry

Saw this news and find it rather interesting and seems that no money love can wait coz no mood to find love I guess.

http://sg.news.yahoo.com/rtrs/20081016/tap-singapore-brides-c3bb44c.html

SINGAPORE, Oct 16 - "No money no honey" seems to be ringing true for Singapore's bridal agencies, which are seeing slowing business as the financial crisis and a looming recession hit love in the country.
Matchmaking agencies in the Southeast Asian country said the financial meltdown has forced some men to think twice about spending thousands of dollars to get a wife.

"About 10 percent of my customers say 'The economy is slowing down, I have no money,'" said Mark Lin, who runs the Vietnam Brides International Matchmaker in Singapore.

"In the past, girls used to get married in one to two weeks. Now it takes one to two months," he said, in a tiny office along Singapore's main shopping belt where five Vietnamese women chatted under walls covered with pictures of smiling newly weds.

Three to four customers pull out of their marriages each month now, forfeiting deposits paid to agencies, up from one to two clients before, Lin said.

The crisis, which sparked banking turmoil from the United States to Iceland, has traversed beyond financial markets into the real economy as falling home prices and fears of losing jobs force consumers to tighten their belts.

"Business has been very badly hit by the crisis. In the past, I would get around 20 calls a day. Now there are hardly any calls," said Hannah, who works at Truelove International Matchmaker in Singapore. She declined to give her last name.

"Some say the financial pressures from a marriage are just too great," she said, in a country that was booming last year but is expected to see a recession in the third quarter.

Couples in Singapore typically spend thousands of dollars when they tie the knot as newly weds host family and friends at a lavish dinner to mark the occasion. Matchmaking is not uncommon in the country, which has a population of 4.8 million and a low birth rate, as older men turn to professionals to find a wife.

Some agencies help link up singles, while others -- like Lin's -- help customers find a prospective wife from abroad.

For S$8,000 , a man can pick a wife from among the women in Lin's shop, send her to the doctor, and get his marriage registered -- all in 12 hours, but only if the woman fancies him too.
If he does not fancy the women in the shop, he can pay another S$2,000 to fly to Ho Chi Minh City and meet 50-100 women in a hotel, but Lin warns customers this is illegal.

"My customers are usually over 35. That is when they get disappointed with Singapore women, whom they say have too high expectations," he said.
The women can stay in Singapore for only two months on visitor's passes if they are not married to a local, Lin said.

But as business slows to a crawl amid a sagging economy, some women have to go home without a husband.

"I hope to get married," said 19-year-old Nguyen Thi Hue, who returns to Vietnam on Thursday after two months in Singapore. "I want a husband who can dote on me and love me."

Be careful of these made in China hair bands !!!

This is definitely disgusting. I will boycott all Made in China products for now.

GIRLS/LADIES/MUM'S BEWARE! GUYS FORWARD TO ALL YOUR FEMALE FRIENDS, GIRL-FRIENDS, WIFE, SISTERS, COUSINS ETC...

Beware when you are traveling to China , just try to be careful when you are buying hair bands down the road who knows what it is made from?? Be cautious of hair bands at open markets around the city too - they are probably from China since they are purchased in bulk very very cheap !!!! Take a good look before buying hair bands in future - specially like the following kind.....

These Hair bands were made from used condoms and threads. That was so disgusting, I would not want to use them!! ..

BEIJING (AFP) - Used condoms are being recycled into hair bands in southern China threatening to spread sexually-transmittable diseases they were originally meant to prevent, state media reported Tuesday In the latest example of potentially harmful Chinese-made products, rubber hair bands have been found in local markets and beauty salons in Dongguan and Guangzhou cities in southern Guangdong province, China Daily newspaper said.

'These cheap and colorful rubber bands and hair ties sell well .... threatening the health of local people,' it said. Despite being recycled, the hair bands could still contain bacteria and viruses, it said. 'People could be infected with AIDS, (gen! ital) warts or other diseases if they hold the rubber bands or strings in their mouths while waving their hair into plaits or buns,' the paper quoted a local dermatologist who gave only his surname, Dong, as saying. A bag of ten of the recycled bands sells for just 25 sen (three cents), much cheaper than others on the market, accounting for their popularity, the paper said.

A government official was quoted as saying recycling condoms was illegal. China 's manufacturing industry has been repeatedly tarnished this year by a string of scandals involving shoddy or dangerous goods made for both domestic and foreign markets. In response, it launched a public relations blitz this summer aimed at playing up efforts to strengthen monitoring systems. _.___

Check your kids hair bands and make sure they do not put them in their mouth while trying to plait or tie their hair.

Shocking win for Superband 2 - 3 Ms "Rabbit"?
I watched Superband 1 till my favourite band last 8 is out but did catch grand finals. This time I did not watch a single episode after heard that the quality of contestants were alot worst than the first one.

Today I was trying to find news on who was the champion. To my shock and disbelief the 3 Ms "Rabbit" won ! Not only they young (this could be their positive point), they looked absolutely wierd and their clothings is awkward. Overall look horrid. I am sorry but I don't find them look like or sound like champion. They are not even half as good as MLB. I am sorry this is worst than PSS2. At least PSS2 champion can sing and dance. This..................I dunno what to say but my friend told me that she switch channel as the singing so terrible.

Superband or SuperBAD??

I total agree with this forumer review:

Fantasic and Magical ABBA MANIA !
I loved ABBA. I listened to many 60s 70s songs since I was a child as my family they loved music. After watching MAMMA MIA the movie recently I was delighted when I know ABBA MANIA coming to town. Though I know its not the original ABBA but since they have sold out concerts the singers must be good if not better than original. It was proven right after I catch their appearance at Esplanade last night. It was amazing. Everyone young and old got up to sing and dance together. This was the best musical and concert I have ever attended. The last one that was so high was Jay Chou concert in Jan but not many old people attended.

But last night there are many from 40s to 60s. Some younger. One old uncle and auntie almost 60 in front of me kept dancing. One 6 month + pregnant ang moh lady stood on her chair and dance half the performance. One auntie brought her children teenagers along and she was dancing whole night with her friend and end up dance with a few ang moh lady towards end of the show.

Everyone was so excited and dance sang along. This is the most memorable musical I have ever attended. If ABBA MANIA coming next year, I will definitely go again.

I would like to comment the band fantastic guitarists, drummer and pianist. The 2 female singers were fantastic especially the blonde Carly Broome. Her voice is almost like Celine Dion flawless.

潘美辰 Live !
photo from haoting.com

I am big fan of this old singer. It has been about 20+ years when I first heard her music likely 89-90 period. Still remember that time I went to buy her first album (that time was cassette). After buying 1st I kept going back to bug music stall (at KL Petaling Street) to ask when her next album be coming. Really big fan of her that time.

I always love female with husky or low pitch voice like Anita Mui, Chui Siu Fung and her. Yesterday watched her perform live for the first time. She wowed me with her looks. Still look the same and so rocker cool dressing. I hope she will come for solo concert I will sure attend. She has very good charisma on stage. Her voice sounds same as in her album. She still has lots of fans who scream loudest for her last night and even gave her quite a no of presents on stage. She did put on a bit of weight not on her face but bottom haha.

Few of my favourite songs: 不懂爱的人, 不要走、不要走, 我曾用心爱着你,

我不在乎, “我想有个家”

Some history about her for those who do not know her.
