I finally did it !
Well I have always wanted to signup for fitness center been thinking and choosing should I pick one in city, near to my office or near to my home? Should I go for CA Fitness at Bugis or Planet Fitness at Suntec or Planet Fitness where I stay? After more than 10 months I still cannot decide but finally I signup with "Fitness First" which is nearest to my home. Since I can claim from my company around half of the membership I should do so since right now I felt pretty unhealthy. My legs cramp easily and sometimes I get muscle pull when I wake up from sleep, bad body ache back, legs, shoulder basically all over etc etc for past 2 months.

Finally on Dec 22nd I signed up and on 23rd I met my trainer Mike. He is a nice guy with sense of humor and has goatie like WL (haha WL shaved his goatie when he left for Beijing). Then there is this machine where I was asked to stand on it and Mike just have to enter my height and my body fat % will be calculated in few minutes. (Sound like magic machine hoho). Finally Mike informed me the BIG and HORROR news that people my age will have body fat healthy % around 21 to 26. But mine was 46%, God I thought I only stop weighing myself for about 10 months, kept blaming myself for eating heavy lunch right before for this appointment but Mike was kind enough to tell me he has already buffer in % for that. (Wow so honest of him, why can't he make me happy by not saying that leh? Haiz............)

Anyway this is it, I know the time has come for me to burn my pocket and signup for one to one trainer. Thank God I can pay installment for this and did not feel that much pain in paying for this, for good health this money is worth paid. I want to get rid of my 4 months baby (which refers to my huge spare tyre) and my giant thighs which has almost doubled since 2004. I felt this has been the reason for my legs frequent cramps. Finally I asked Mike how is the package like and he said there are 2 package 10 sessions or 30 sessions he recommends that was promotion for me as I pay for 25 sessions and get 5 free. When I signup for the membership I have been given 2 free sessions with trainer and with that in total I had 32 sessions. Mike told me this would last me for max of 5 months which is good. Knowing myself I know I will stop going gym after 2 months so I must be discipline and force myself through.€

Wow finally I went to do 40 minutes of cardio, machines etc, tried around 4 different machines to start warmup myself. Mike said for 1st try start slow. So roughly I burnt around just 125 calories for my first workout. Then my next session on 25th Dec. Mike arranged for my sessions to be 3 times a week with him for first month and I had to go once more to train on my own or attend other classes like yoga etc. My 2nd training was much better I manage to do longer trainings and burnt around 200+ calories for 1 hour session. My body only felt pain after 1st session but from 2nd session onwards it seemed fine.

On my 3rd training I went on my own on 27th Dec to train 1 hour, I basically tried Cardio 30 mins, cycling 15 mins, and another 15 mins on 3 different weight lifting machines. This time I managed to burn around 250 calories. I am so happy that day. While I was trying cardio, Mike saw me and try to give me a scare by hitting my back and then hide himself. I was listening to my MP3 and was shocked how come my friend was here but realised its Mike. He said that he was glad to see me working hard (Phew! Glad I went else I will get one warning from Mike). Mike said he is LOOKING FORWARD to train me next session (Wow! Sounds tough man!)

Finally today my 4th training and also 3rd session by Mike. I went 30 mins earlier so I can get 20 mins to train on Cardio on my own to warmup my body. Mike came and look for me and asked me to go to do REAL trainings. Finally I realised those cardio, machines etc is nothing compared to the tough trainings he was going to give me. I was first asked to carry a ball with my arms stretch out and squad and up and squad 20 times followed by another up and down steps 20 times and in total I did 100 times squad and 100 times steps. I was damn hungry towards the last round but Mike said I can do it, so I have to do it. Finally its over and my sweat was dripping from head down to face and I kept wiping it and kept drinking water.

To my shock, I had another round of different routines, this time I had to squad and pretend to sit with holding the ball another 20 times and do it 5 times. Towards the end I felt so tired around my arms and then was asked to train my legs stamina. I was asked to sit on weight machine and use my legs to lift the weight. I did this for another 5 rounds of 10 times each. Towards the end I kept breathing hard and had to drink lots of water. I told Mike I believe tonight I will have great sleep as I am soooooooooooo tired ! Mike laughed and agreed with me totally. Sweet dreams, Pat ! HaHa! I only kept thinking of getting nice bath and relax myself but I have another appointment to go in Clementi. So quickly went to take bath and changed and then get my butt to the taxi stand to go Clementi as I 'bo lat' to take MRT then walk as I am soooooooo hungry and tired. On the way I pack sausage with prata from nice store at basement. The way prata was fried was without oil and its using much less oil to cook which suit my diet now.

Just a note now I don't go for late dinners, no dinner appointments unless its important meetings for next 5 months not at least until my workout see real results. Food wise I have to cut down desserts (sweets), rice/noodles, oily and fried food. I can still eat meat but must not be fried and moderately. Best to eat fish, seafood. I was able to refrain myself from eating meat recently. In fact after just 1 week I can feel results my tummy is tighter and reduced at least half an inch. I get less bloated stomach. Also I tried to eat grapefruit 2-3 times a week to help in digestion. Cut down breakfast, only taking oats and plain wheatmeal bread. Lunch no rice, light food like yong tau foo. Try to eat mee suah or bee hoon soup instead of any noodles or rice.

Mike suggested I eat 5 smaller meals a day rather than 3 full meals. By cutting down breakfast and lunch, I have managed to keep my appetite smaller. Dinner I will eat twice once around 4-5pm light one and another time at around 6-7pm or later if I have trainings. For the meals that I eat less when I felt hungry I will drink a cup of hot Milo and it works. Milo gives me energy for workouts plus its filling, I will eat less meat when I drink Milo. I also bought energy bar which comes with more energy than calories. In between the day when I felt hungry I will eat some. 1 bar I can eat for 4-5 times as snacks in between smaller meals.

I hope to keep track of this and see results after 1 month. I do not care how many kg I loose but most important is I would like to maintain my body fat at around 24-25% rather than 46% at end of 5 months from now which is May 08. I will update again soon after I train for my 8th time. Hopefully by then I can reduce at least 2-3% fats with strict diet and trainings 4 times a week. Wish me all the best ba.
