Reunion dinner day
6th Feb reunion dinner day. Spent morning watching tv and then my eldestbrother came with his two sons. I have not seen them since my aunt's funerallast year around Sept 07. Wow now my eldest nephew is 18 and study in KL's private college. How time flies. He and his sister seemed to be more reserved and quiet now.
My brother invited my mum to stay a night at his house in KL. Before going forthe dinner, my mum spent more than 30 mins packing and we all made fun of herthat she only spend a night yet need to bring one luggage. My mum gave meinstructions what to prepare for lunch tomorrow since she will be away.I have to help her cut the mushroom, garlic, dried cuttlefish and dried prawninto small pieces. My mum has earlier placed them into small containers enough for making well known hakka dish called "Wu De Ban".
Previously my mum will make yam roll a famous Hakka "noodle" like item to be used to cut into smaller pieces or "coin" like small pieces to be friedwith mince pork, mushroom, dried cuttlefish and dried prawn. Processtaken to make this yam roll will take half day and this time my mum has found a ready made dried "lobak" roll that is already cut which can replace the yam.The process much easier but I have to first soak it into water overnight so thatit become soft and able to absorb sauce when cook.
For dinner we went to the same restaurant we went last year for my dad's birthday. It was about 15 mins drive from my home. All the tables were reserved by families who do not wantto spend time cooking rather eat out. We had 8 wonderful dishes which Iwill share the pictures. Loved the steam fish and grill chicken most. After dinner, went home and I immediately went to prepare the items which my mother hasinstructed me to prepare.
