Melody's Taiwanese friends

Me and Melody

Melody arrived Singapore through Singapore Airlines friday night and called me about 7.30pm after she checkin her hotel at YWCA and meet up with her Singapore friends June etc at Bugis. Well since she has her local friend with her I told her will meet her Saturday instead so we arranged and I asked Fang and Wei along since she has chat with them before. Its good to know more Singaporeans right? We made arrangements prior to the meetup.

Yesterday finally gave Melody call at 10 am and she told me to meet up around lunchtime as she is meeting another Singapore friend around 4pm. I went to Viviocity to meet up with Melody and 3 of her Taiwan friends. When I arrive at Viviocity gave her a call and she told me she is at this "XXXXX" Chan Ting, guess I am not used to makan place in chinese and location names in chinese so I cannot imagine exactly which makan place is this. Well, I am used to say Restaurant/Chan Guan. Somehow I am expecting its something like those HK Cha Chan Teng.

So I walk one big round then call her again to ask what are the shops near to the place she is having lunch. Finally I found it after get copy of the Viviocity Shops directory from Information counter and realised earlier I turn right instead of left. I should have done so. Melody had lunch at Nyonya restaurant. She introduced me to her friends, Tung Tung who share room with her and another couple (hoho we don't talk much yesterday so I forgot their names actually). Later Fang and Wei arrived and Melody and friends paid the bill as the restaurant waitress told us they suppose to close at 3pm and its already exceeded time for us to leave.

So we decided to go to TS video since Melody and friends wanted to buy local Singapore movie and vcds. Sounds familar like me when I was in HK and Taiwan last year looking for HK dramas, Koreans and etc. On the way I realised they went missing only to find out that they actually snapping photos of Fiona Xie at OSIM store. WOW! I cannot imagine, I never even bother to look at local artistes what about taking photos? Well I realise I will be the same when in Taiwan taking Taiwanese artistes photos. Then we pass by Jay Chou big poster asked them if they want to take that and Melody told me "Nah. I dislike him and don't support him........" haha now I know.

Finally we reach TS video but shop assistant told us they only have 3 sets of Singapore dramas videos. After looking around Melody bought a number of Singapore movies and found 1 set of drama placed together with other taiwanese videos with help of 2 real friendly Singaporeans Fang and Wei while I busy looking for Korean videos myself. Total Melody paid SGD104.50 for big bag of videos while her friends each has bought some copies as well. Then we left TS video and found one stall selling healthy drinks and bread. We stop by for drinks and I bought this Apple, Wheatgrass drink for SGD4 and the 4 buns for $5 sharing with Fang and Wei who later went to get Hot Dogs. After steaming the buns they taste real good. Regretted I forgot to get photos taken.

Initially there we are just 7 of us but later June and another friend arrived and now we have 9. Then June informed us that outside was very heavy down pour so we cannot go to City Hall - Merlion to take photos as planned. So we are to head back to Hotel to let Melody and friends rest and leave their shopping bags while waiting for rain to stop. We took MRT to Dhoby Ghaut then walk back to YWCA. First time going to this lodge cum hotel and realise it was not as bad as YMCA I stayed in HK last year. We stay on for like 1.5 hours talking and chatting all the way. Also exchanging contacts. Its interesting we get to know so many new friends both Taiwan and Singapore just after one meeting.

Later Melody get call from Pei Ling who was downstairs waiting for us to go out shopping at Far East Plaza and dinner at Newton after. Pei Ling brought another friend Yung Ling (hope I spell it correctly). Maybe Pei Ling and Yung Ling more shy other than said hi we did not chat. 11 of us went to take bus to Scotts Road for our shopping spree.
