New youtube sensation discovered - Sam Tsui

Sam Tsui and his friends uploaded their own videos in youtube singing covers of famous songs as well as remixes. They also wrote a few songs. I came across this name shared by "Ellen" in her tweeter.

After watching a few of Sam's videos I was impressed and now I am already a fan. I hope he will be in Glee soon at least to guest star as he is an amazing singer. He has this natural voice which enable him to sing high and low notes. Furthermore he is American Chinese. Its rather impressive to know of chinese who can sing so well in english. By just listening to his voice its hard to tell he is actually an Asian.

My health

Despite being busy with concerts and training new colleague from end Sept,
my health has been rather poor lately. I was diagnosed with Stage 1
high blood pressure on 21-Oct. Despite exercising regularly (attend Group X classes
at FF three times a week) blood pressure still remain at 150/90 after a month.

GP recommended me to cut down on food and go through more strict diet. No
caffeine drinks (cut coffee), eat more healthy, less fried food more vege. I started
cutting on food from 1st week of Nov. Then I started having less sleep and sleeping
disorders, slept by 9 pm and woke up by 4 am daily.

Then I had hormonal issues I had to see my GP for emergency jab and recommended
to see specialist for my condition at KK Hospital. I went for Pelvis Xray found nothing but
a small fibroid. The specialist recommended for me to go for more blood tests to check for other
possible illness. 3 tubes of blood were taken and results will be out by Dec 13th.

I hope nothing serious and no surgery is required.

Now I am on short leave going to stay at 5 stars local hotel in city. Looking forward to my break before collecting test results and further Xrays 13th Dec.

Sorry to everyone that I have not been blogging.

Sept to Oct has been really so busy for me. I was at F1 concerts end Sept to see live performances by Chris Daughtry, Adam Lambert and Mariah Carey. Overall Adam was the best performer as his performances and songs are very energetic. Chris despite having good voice was a bit boring. Finally diva MC was the one that I spent alot of time waiting and queueing for hours to be able to stand front rows. I was at 2nd row but yet block by the fan in front dancing and shaking. Too bad she was pregnant and was not in her tip top condition but seeing her was sensational. I also had the chance to meet up with many MC fans around Asia, Mal, Indon, HKG, Singapore and Philippines.

It was fantastic concert and despite standing for hours its worth it !

This is real and this dog "Princess" is amazing.

If not because of princess her owner would have been murdered by her boyfriend.

She was in between me and him the whole time, barking. She was doing a great job of protecting me. Wherever I moved, she was there right with me."

Tragic tour bus in Philippine 23-Aug-10

I was at HKG airport waiting for my SQ flight to Singapore that suppose to take off at 6.30pm and saw the news of HKG tourists being held in tour bus in Phillipine. This is definitely unbelievable. I did not know 9 has been killed until next day.

Here I have few videos shared by my friends. These videos gave clear description of what actually happened.

I do not understand why the bus driver ran and say everyone in the bus died when there are still many who are still alive then. This is the biggest doubt I had of all that happened.

NDP Song 2010 - Corrine May (Song for Singapore)

Well I always loved Corrine May because of her voice. Twice I wanted to go to her concert at Esplanade but its either sold out or I am just not able to make it for the date.

Finally this time Corrine May was asked to write song for NDP. I was excited. But after listening to the song I realised the song was too slow and not very suitable as a NDP song. I personally felt that NDP song should be faster tempo and sound happier. Somehow the song sounded too slow and boring for me and many of my friends. I do hope there is a faster version. Most of my friends commented the song is too sleepy which I quite agree.

Furthermore the lyrics itself needs some improvements as the word "Singapore" was used far too many times :S

Singapore bus fare hike (but being publicised as savings ??)

Read more about the recent bus fare hike and commuter who personally encounter the increase and blogged about it. One thing I do notice is I have been charged 71 cents instead of the normal 69 cents when taking feeder bus home from AMK Hub and I have been constantly topping up my EZLINK card. I usually top up $20 each time. Its finished a lot faster than before.

World Cup 2010 - South Africa came to an end

Finally the world cup was over. I could not help but feel missing the Germany team. They are so wonderful to watch. I was most entertained by their following 3 matchs:

3rd placing with Uruguay
Qtr finals with Argentina
Top 16 with England

During this time I also tried a bit of luck on Sports i-Bet from Qtr finals. Somehow I started by investing $30 won $37 then invested again another $25 but lost all in the Semi finals when Germany lost to Spain. Nevertheless I learnt not to gamble as usually its more losses than wins. I will focus on the match.

Due to the fantastic young team Germany coach Joachim Leow created and trained, I am totally into Muller the young talented footballer that I most enjoyed watching. Besides Muller I also liked goalkeeper Neuer whom I find very attractive. Others that I like Klose, Podolski and Ozil.

What a fantastic team shall miss them all very much !

I kinda feel a bit sad coz I have been following results since the top 16. I do hope Germany 2010 team will be back better and stronger in 2014. All the best to them for the 3rd placing match against Uruguay despite a few players injured. I do hope Klose will be back despite back injury as this should be his last world cup to break Ronaldo's 15 goals record.

Gathering with ex-collegues from CSM

Recently have been trying to catch up with old colleagues, time flies we all left CSM in between 2006 to 2007 and its now 4 years + for me.

Have been arranging lunch sessions and hope more to come. Will be meeting 2 other Indonesian friends who used to be contractors in CSM and do some catching up.

Hope will regain back contacts that were lost after I change my SIM card.

I have not been following football since 2005 when I was too busy with my part-time Master degree course but has since regain back the momentum this year with WC 2010 thanks to the online free streaming I was able to watch the matches online since top 16.

I have been big fan of #GER and #BRA since I started watching WC with my dad and my brothers. That is when I start to learn more about football and who are the great teams. I recall my 2nd brother always been big fan of #GER. I have been their fan since I started watching WC if not wrong in secondary school.

When WC started, my die hard WC fans friends and colleagues told me how great #ARG, #POR and #ESP players were and #ARG and #ESP will be in finals for sure etc etc. Then how great the world top player from #ARG Messi is etc etc. Well I am still fan of #GER and #BRA and not intimitated by Messi. Then top 16 I watched how #GER played against #ENG I was convinced #GER is the one to beat and I felt they have great chance to be in finals if they continue to play so well. And #GER proof others wrong when they beat #ARG 4-0. I cannot help myself but to scream in front of my computer and won my first iBet $30 for the win :)

#GER is very strong as a team and they are very discipline and calm incompared to South American teams like #ARG or #BRA. I am totally amazed by the new young team that is playing this WC. I love their goalkeeper Neuer alot as well as young star Thomas Muller. I believe after this WC many of their young players would be sought after by other clubs.

After their outstanding performance in top 16 match against #ENG and then top 8 against #ARG I am now very impressed and just bought my first #GER black jersey to cheer for them this coming top 4 match. Wish them all the best against favourite #ESP (Spain). I do believe #GER will win but again anything could happen in WC. Nevertheless #GER has been very strong underdog despite not having many famous players able to move on to top 4 with many goals along with them.

Coming back to #BRA I was very sad that they are not in finals this year but again despite scoring their own goal they actually played alot better than #ARG. I was happy they turn out not as bad as the results that made them. I am still proud of #BRA hope they will win next WC in 2014 where they will be hosting as well.

May 1st I will be watching Lisa ONO concert at Singapore Indoor and taking first Circle Line ride. I bought cheapest downstairs ticket. Bought this in March.

I have always been big fan of Musical, I bought Chicago Musical tickets in Jan and will be watching May 8th. Yes for Musical usually I will be willing to pay for CAT 1.

May 15th I am watching Powerwomen concert with WLFC friends.

Finally May 29th going for my first Alan/Hacken concert. WOOHOO!

American Idol 9 (2010)

American Idol has always been my favourite talent show since I watched it in 2002 if not wrong. (Year whereby Reuben won) Without this talent show I would not have watched Malaysian Idol 1 whereby I was so touched by Jaclyn Victor. And lastly I would not have requested tickets to watch PSS1 live and be touched by Kelvin Tan Wei Lian.

Last year I was totally amazed by Danny Gokey. I bought his 1st country album direct from US. This year I am star strucked by Andrew Garcia. In some ways they are alike. Glasses, attached (one is a widower, Andrew is an unmarried father) and they are great in their own ways. Some may complain about Andrew being inconsistent and this year's idol weren't as great as before due to Paula Abdul left, contestants were not good etc etc.

I do love Ellen and did not miss Paula much. But I do find the 12 males 12 females moving to top 12, 6 males 6 females format not to my liking. The qualities of the contestants were not balanced. Also almost all the contestants in top 12 were alike. Many of them play guitar and acoustic. Somewhat can find it boring this season.

But my eyes are only focused on Andrew Garcia. I was hoping he will be in Top 5 but hopes gone 2 weeks ago when he and Katie Stevens were eliminated. My hope is now on Michael to fight with Crystal. Crystal is my favourite female but I do get pissed off by the judges for always praising her no matter what she sings even if the song sounded boring esp Randy, Kara. The unfairness can be seen week after week and now I am hoping for someone else to win and not her unless the judges tone down their openly one sided support for her.

Meanwhile I am waiting for more news on Andrew Garcia.

Its been quite sometime since I last blogged. Work has always been the one that is occupying all my time that left me with very little time to do things for myself. In early April I was busy with hunting easter eggs in Facebook - Fluff friends as its the game that I really enjoyed playing twice a year.

Just last friday I finally had a short break to 4D 3N to Taipei where I claim free air ticket for my first time using KRISFLYER points. I kept receiving emails, letters reminding me to claim my points before it expires. I already lost few thousand points due to expiry recently. Glad I made a last minute decision to fly to Taipei to meet up with my Taiwan friends after 1.5 years.

Been so busy since after CNY

My company has just gone through ERP systems upgrade. Since 1st day of CNY I have been working daily even weekends without fail to resolve issues caused by the upgraded systems. Its been really busy I only had 4 to 5 hours sleep daily. I woke up check emails, work go to office work come home after work, start working again. Very tiring for me.

Now finally most critical issues have been resolved. I hope my life can be back to normal. Sorry for those who read my blog I have not been updating but will do so from now.

Hell's Kitchen anyone?

Well I have watched one episode during my US trip last March. I finally downloaded Season 6 and watching halfway now. I most enjoy about this show is Chef Rempsey's handling of the situation in the kitchen as well as the performance of the chefs. It reminds me of my interest of being a chef before I decide on IT. Thank God I did not pursue this area as I think I will be sick of it after few years.

In Season 6 one of the episode whereby one of the contesting chef actually has war with Chef Rempsey and even challenge him for a fight outside digged a hole to bury himself. In any situation he is in the wrong. He is there for the challenge he should have prepared himself to be scolded or belittled by the famous Chef. I wonder if he would still be getting his old job back after the embarassing episode.

The next interesting thing is the obese former season 2 contestant Robert. After he took the conference bike with other chef to get supply for the kitchen and end up being brought away by ambulance unbelievable. I was thinking if this is for real.
Tonight will continue to watch.

My first post in 2010

I have been busy holidaying and enjoying long weekends end up last week unexpectedly I was very busy with work. One of my team mates' father past away suddenly he was on whole week leave. Another colleague was on vacation. I end up being alone to support the system for 2 days and the volume of transactions was huge. Totally caught up with work.

Finally I have sometime this week to do some blogging. I finally bought train ticket to return Singapore on 27th Jan and bus ticket to Mal on 22nd Jan last week and applied for 4 days leave. Its still pending my boss approval but I do hope he will approve it as I have informed earlier. Due to Peoplesoft ERP upgrade going live first day after CNY holidays, we are not allowed to take any days off in February to standby in case any support require from us.

I do hope everything goes smoothly then.

Best movie 2009 - my review

I read reviews from US best 10 movies of the year by well-known movie reviewers. Well as a frequent movie goer (on average I watched 1-2 movie a week during holidays season and one movie every 1-2 months during busy work months).

My top 10 most entertaining movies for Y2009 based on my urge
to watch it again or purchase the movie for keep (as of 28th Dec):

1. Avatar 3D (planning to watch again) (Best sci-fi 3D effects)
2. Transformer 2 (watched twice) (Amazing robots)

3. Bodyguard and Assassins (Chinese movie) (most meaningful and touching)
4. Up (Heartwarming movie)
5. District Nine (Best sci-fi story)
6. Hang Over (Best comedy)
7. Star Trek (love the actors)
8. Julie and Julia (love the cooking)
9. Princess and the frog (love the firefly)
10. Fantastic Mr Fox (nice story)

** I also love Zombieland but the gruesome man eating zombies made it hard
for me to want to watch it again so its not in my top 10 list.

Best script/directing:
1. Inglorious Bastards (Movie's too long and not enough to keep audience attention, one man next to me slept whole movie)
2. 500 days of summer (a long movie, funny, great story telling but I do not feel like returning to watch it again)
3. Sherlock Holmes (nice chemistry between the 2 male leads)
4. The Hurt Locker (amazing movie but I dont intend to watch again due to the stress of thinking about when bomb will explode)

Worst of 2009:
1. Terminator Salvation (Disappointment in ending)
2. 2012 (Disappointment in 2nd half of movie total bore)
3. Treasure Hunter (Disappointment in storyline)
4. Feng Yuen II (Disappointment in the fighting scenes too much special effects)

Biggest disappointment: FAME 2009 (Too many dancers at a time its like watching MTV rather than movie, very lacking in story telling)

Surprise movie of 2009:
Fantastic mr Fox (I was not interested at all after watch trailer but the movie was fun and hilarious)

Amazing proposal - Mike to Xiaxue

I read about the big Xia Xue wedding proposal from her love, Mike at Ris Low's blog (Yeah maybe you are surprised I do read RL's blog once a while when free). Just read the love story at Xia Xue's blog http://xiaxue.blogspot.com/ and it touched me, my impression of her being someone who is loud, open and naughty changed. I see another side of Xia Xue that is the little woman in her who is in love.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2010

Its been busy 2 weeks since few days before Christmas at work as well as personal. I was busy giving away christmas gifts since last year I was late and did not manage to meet all the people to give gifts. I gave away 40+ gifts and received over 20 gifts back. Christmas is always happy moment for me I enjoyed buying and giving away gifts. Not only that I enjoy Christmas carols and singing them at church. Well my first time giving away Christmas gifts as a Christian was in year 2008. Its been 11 years now.

This year at my church, we had our first Christmas celebrations at TCC Paya Lebar at our new Worship Hall (The Sanctuary) that could accomodate up to 3000 worshippers. From Jan 2010 Sunday will only have one service at 10 am instead of 2 services. Most importantly through twitter I realised the famous Singapore "Mr Brown" is from my church and I just know it on Christmas day as he and his wife sang for christmas choir.

Wishing all my friends and people who read my blog Merry Christmas though I blog this few days late :D

Ever since I heard her voice sing for Mulan and Aladdin I totally loved her.The first play was with Adrian Pang at Raffles Hotel (They are playing our song). Catched her in Ms Saigon about 10 years ago at Kallang Theatre. I really missed her shows.

Finally I catch her live again at her solo concert at Esplanade last nite. She has grown into more mature but still lovely. So excited I was able to get her autograph after waiting like 40 mins.

I saw this tweet from someone her rendition of Poker Face at her Philipine concert recently, she sound great. Hope to catch her again soon !

Next year CNY clashes with my company system upgrade go live schedule. Me and my dept colleagues were not to apply any leave from Mid-Feb. So I am going to be celebrating CNY in Singapore. It would be very boring CNY for me. Guess I would be watching alot of Korean serials and opening ceremony for my new and unopened Multi purpose cooker.

Not sure if its gonna be an enjoyable CNY or super boring one ! Lets hope for the earlier one.

After watch the duet Liang Wen Yin and the little Korean talented blind pianist, I just cannot help to notice the song if sung just by the Korean Ye-Eun will sound alot better than duet. Here I found a really nice live version by 5 amazing female voices Celtic Woman. They can even play violin. Really amazed me. I think I will be getting their albums soon.

This year my church is going to combine services with Paya Lebar and I have started to be regular at cells since 1st Dec. I am now with Yishun Cell on tuesdays. I had my 2nd cell last saturday by attending the cell invitation to Christmas@home.
We had great time. there are about 20+ adults with 20 kids and the whole house was full of noise. The house belong to N3 core teacher whom I have been serving regularly since 2004.

During the party we had few games. One of the games that was very memorable "Don't forget the lyrics" - Christmas carols. It was fun and hard as most of us only sing Christmas songs during Christmas period end of the year. At the end my group lost. Both groups were unable to guess the lyrics without any help given. Finally the opposite group won.

The song most memorable "Do you hear what I hear" which is not a common song we listen. It was made popular by the Carpenters in the 70s. Here I share the 2 editions, one of the latest live version by Carrie Underwood.

Honestly some of the concert tickets I bought like 2-3 months earlier so sometimes forgotten which day finally I decided to go for the concert just buy it at counter or call. Thank God I did not buy tickets that clash with one another.

But next week is such a busy week. I have tickets to attend following:

a. Tribute to MJ at Indoor Stadium 15th Dec (Tue)

b. Lea Selonga Concert at Esplanade 16th Dec (Wed) (Bought this together with Tribute to MJ)

c. Three good men concert 19th Dec (Thu) (Bought this in October)

Then 18th Dec I have co party to attend at Marina. Theme is related to Cartoon characters still wondering if should rent cloths for the event. Not much time to to plan.

I just started to go back to cell group after stopped for 2 years. I was actually looking for non-friday cells but there are very few in my North District so after I last visited a cell at Khatib, finally I found a nice cell recommended by Sister Mellina at Yishun close closer to Khatib MRT. The cell members are from age 7 to 50+. Its really nice and heartwarming family cell.

The cell leader and his wife actually served at my nursery N3. I have meet them many times. Its such a small world. I pray that Lord will guide me back to regular cells so I will have more to look forward to besides just weekend service or serving.

This is my cubicle I placed the angel given to me for my birthday by BA Judy.

This is from another dept colleague cubicle, despite being taken in the dark, it was very well decorated with raindeer, christmas tree and socks.

This is another cubicle next to me which is vacant but still decorate it so it will look nice.

This bear is given to me by my church sister during my 2004 church transfer baptism.

Its been long time since I last blog. Since mid Nov my other dept colleagues been busy decorating our cubicles for Christmas at my office. After thinking about decorating my dept cubicles for about 2 weeks finally I managed to buy the items needed for decorations last week.

Bought very nice items from Vivocity Tangs. There is one area where they display the items near the fountain entrance and alot of items to choose from. I have finished decorating last friday finally after trying to finish it. I have one female colleague helping me to do it.

Why never blog for so long - the reason

Sorry to all friends who read my blog been really busy. Since Aug to Oct totally tight up with WLFC matters. So many events and matters to handle and WL's birthday party etc etc.

Finally everything's cleared now I need to refocus on my ERP upgrade project. In office this whole month we have overseas team mates coming over to do testing and working on this upgrade project. Very possible next year 2010 CNY holidays I am burnt too and not allowed to take any leave as system going live 1st day after CNY holidays.

Well Dec I am very busy too coz I am attending 3 different concerts.

Will try to blog once in a while but will only have more time after March 2010.

DWTS Season 9 winner revealed

I have been constantly following DWTS since Season 5 top 4. Its really amazing to see how a contestant with little or no dance experience eventually grow towards the end. At this stage (Finale) anyone can win as all 3 are great dancers. Despite some fans maybe looking at technicality or how well the contestant dance but to me its both. Firstly most importantly the contestant must be enjoyable to watch and well liked by audience followed by dance. He/She must have both qualities to win. Its been proved past seasons. So far Season 6 and 7 were won by someone having both qualities Kristi Yamaguchi and Brooke whom dance very well as well as well liked. Season 8 top 2 has real close fight endup my favourite Olympic gold medalist won she is youngest winner if not wrong at 16. This season my favourite Donny Osmond at 51 the oldest who won. I really love him and Kelly Osbourne. Kelly grown so much. She totally change my mindset and opinions about her after watching her throughout this season.

Wei Lian's performance at T-Music Concert

It was an amazing concert as it took 7 hours in total instead of original 5 hours. Wei Lian is the third performer and he was down with flu and went back to hotel to rest at 9 pm before the powercut. The generator was overheated and on fire at about 10 pm and took 40 mins to get electricity back.

Wei Lian performed 4 songs, Xia Ren Wu De Xin Sang, Mei Guan Xi (Jia Zai Ban San Ba New MC-Mal drama theme song) and 2 songs with his guitar "I love you" and Fen Shou De Qing Shu.

At the beginning the 10 over thousand audiences was wondering who Wei Lian was when he first sang till he sang 2nd song. The new drama theme song was well liked by Malaysians audience and they were excited to know it was Wei Lian the singer for the song and started to warm up. The most impact was when Wei Lian started to sing with his guitar, the whole stadium quiet down to listen and the clap after he finished singing the last 2 songs were very loud and amazing !

Wei Lian extended his KL stay for 4 radio interviews on Monday (My FM, 988, AiFm and 1FM) followed by 8tv enews appearance on Tuesday 4.30pm.

Review (Asian Pop)Kelvin Tan (Warner/Play): 3 stars

Released on National Day, the first Project Superstar champion's third album features a Mandarin makeover of this year's National Day Parade theme song, written and performed in English by local band Electrico.With lyrics by the feted Xiao Han, Tan's Mando rendition somehow works and is strangely fetching.

National Day connection aside, Moving Notes is a mostly made-in Singapore effort featuring home-grown musicians, producers, arrangers and engineers.

The album is intrinsically a rather pleasing and endearing effort.

Rating: A- 简单耐听好喜欢专辑里的第一首歌‘孤单好吗’（陈伟联曲、易家扬词），无论唱法和曲风，都能轻易、平静的、自然的带领歌迷进入这次不一样的陈伟联音乐世界里。这个世界，非常简单，不做作，不可以卖弄不同曲风，仅以舒适的情感和音乐创作，吸引听者的慢慢趋近。。。

推荐：孤单好吗，永远的朋友，重生

陈伟联这次交出7首曲，作词人则打牌云集，有林夕，易家扬，邬裕康，姚谦，小寒，姚若龙等，可惜感人之作不多。陈伟联作曲，易家扬填词的《孤单好吗》，是最动人的歌曲。

吉他弦轻轻地拨着，伟联幽幽地唱着；　被寂寞重重包围，安静得可怕。　

《永远的朋友》是“爱着你却伤心的只能守候不能拥有”的感伤，伟联不温不火，唱出了歌曲中淡淡的苦涩。伟联这次在演唱上更成熟，更内敛，是一大进步，只是当每一首歌曲都是相似的口气，就变得平淡无味。

像萧煌奇作曲的《心有灵犀》和翻唱张雨声的《大海》，情绪若更澎湃，感觉也会更深刻。专辑曲风也不够精彩，就是清新，清新，在清新，然后听着听着，注意力也渐退。　（罗真玲）

夜色迷蒙，是适合用来听音乐的。在网上搜找，无意中一个名字映入眼帘：陈伟联，

同名专辑叫《走唱陈伟联》。　　

很用心的去听。　　

第一首是翻唱张雨生的名曲《大海》。开始以为是不同于张雨生的歌曲，一听之下，是陈伟联以自己的唱法重新演绎的。

起调是一段伴着吉它的哼唱，立刻被这个男子清澈的嗓音吸引。

待到第一句唱出，真的给了我几分惊艳。

陈伟联的中音部分十分动听，很稳重厚实，对于他相对张雨生高音区的降调处理，我十分欣赏。

开始的吉它和稳实的唱腔，很好的衬托了这首歌的意境。

尤其难得的是，歌曲的前半部，陈伟联摒弃了当今流行的R&B唱法，一点花腔都没有，就凭了干净的嗓音带我们很快走入这首歌的情感。

可以说唱出了自己的味道。陈伟联的声线立体性很强，略为紧致的中音，使得每个字句，都有了很好的支撑。没有其它乐器的伴奏近乎清唱特别容易让声音单薄苍白，可是陈伟联老老实实的气声唱法，使得尾音残响韵味悠长，很好的弥补了声音上平面化，使得声音变得华丽而富于质感。

歌曲的后半段，渐渐加入了其它乐器的伴奏，陈伟联尝试了高音，也升了半个key，个别小节变调也有自己的小小发挥，但我以为，这样反而有些狗尾续貂，掩盖了他的声音特质，有两处“如果深情往事你已不再留恋”中的“你已”和“如果大海能够带走我的哀愁”中的“哀愁”发音上略有吃力感。“就像带走每条河流”的“河流”两个字如果不是鼻音兼哭腔过重，我想这首歌唱的足够让我感动到浑身起鸡皮疙瘩的。　　

第二首《分手的情书》，歌词过于做作，太过注重押韵上来，而且尾字落在呼气音上，使得整首歌缺乏一种张力，又会让歌词在听众的耳中辨识度不高，若不是陈伟联咬字很准加之嗓音清澈，我觉得唱起来就会像一团浆糊。这首歌陈伟联的唱法选择了雷同周传雄“城市熟男”的单气口腔音，将共鸣放在鼻腔和舌中前的部位，虽然能让声线干净许多，但是很大程度上削弱了声线的穿透力。高潮部分“我本来是孤独的壁虎，你生来是掌上明珠”，居然还选择这种发声方式，声音薄如蝉翼，很让我担心它会撕裂或者断掉，而且唱得有些力不从心，中间“孤独的”后的间歇换气，让我有呛水的感觉。而且这两句词让我丈二金刚摸不到头脑，感觉特别的滑稽，想了半天也弄不明白“壁虎”和“掌上明珠”有何必然的关联，或者就如我前面提到的“因韵害意”吧。

　　第三首《孤单好吗》，很喜欢。整首歌唱起来就好像夏天的午后，懒洋洋的阳光，透过参差的树枝，在绿绿草地上留下斑驳的影，旁边有朋友在耳边轻声细语，气氛很安静；又好像在空旷的电影院，单独的人，看着情节悠缓的电影，荧光的明灭闪烁中，看一个人被电影感动，一个人的对话。也很喜欢陈伟联不加任何修饰的单纯唱法，亲切自然，就有着一种让你闭了眼，微晃着身体，静静听他唱歌的魔力，仿佛和他认识多年。　

　第四首《永远的朋友》，典型的吕方唱法，声音紧蹙，有些许的赶，而且整首词我觉得很一般，形式化的语言，没有独到的见解，缺少打动人心的力量，听过之后，印象不深，所以不加太多评论。　　

第五首《和你同名的星星》，这首歌旋律清新明快，没有太多的转音，但不会显得平直，反而给人平易近人的感受，配上陈伟联干净的嗓音，很有着小小的感动。但我觉得这首歌比较适合走路时哼唱，算是唱给自己的歌吧。　　

第六首《心有灵犀》，个人比较喜欢。但不知道为何陈伟联将自己那么具有感染力的中音给隐藏了，主歌部分的高音声线成了丝线状，个人以为太平面化了，而且稳定性不高。如果主歌部分试着降半个key，改用厚实的中高音区演唱，会更有感染力。尾段的处理很好，强调了自己独特且具有感染力的中音，气息的掌控上也无可挑剔。我不太喜欢他对于整首歌的处理，虽然这样做层次很辨明清晰，但太过于清晰就会给人很脱节的感受，搞不清歌手到底寄寓整首歌怎样的情感，就算我们唱歌也要讲究起承转合，可过于大起大落，就会让我抛高伏低，最后晕头转向。　　

第七首《寂寞之国》，风格和前两首一样，三首歌相比较，这首歌的处理上，陈伟联小小尝试了一下R&B唱法，而且转音是这首歌的主要特点，这首歌再次显示了陈伟联坚实的唱功，也见到了他唱歌风格上的成熟和变化，他颤音的频率很快，歌曲的意境和情感尺度把握得很到位，使人不会产生很出格的感觉。这首歌在陈伟联的演绎下，有着感动人心的力量。惊艳！　　

第八首《宁愿》，我觉得这首歌是为陈伟联量身定做的，特别适合他的声线，而且高音部分不会让人替他捏汗。陈伟联的音质不算上乘，有些歌曲选择上，会很明显地暴露他声音上的缺陷，但这首歌恰恰把他声音中的优点挖掘出来，给人耳目一新的感觉，听了这首歌心情都是不一样的。　　

第九首《重生》属翻唱歌曲，一首很经典的慢歌。陈伟联独到的设计，使得声场有着动感的华丽，仿佛来自云端，大有许茹芸“芸式唱腔”的味道，但陈伟联很饱满的中音却突破了“芸式唱腔”过于轻灵飘渺的局限，是声音很有质感。陈伟联是应该唱抒情歌曲的，他声音中的特质会得到淋漓尽致的发挥。　　

第十首《星光伴我心》，节奏明快，很轻灵，但有些趋同儿歌《春天在哪里》，呵呵，不想评价。　

　第十一首《就在这里》，整张专辑中的一大亮点。如果说前几首只是在某个风格上或唱法上的小打小闹，那么这首歌是一种彻底的颠覆。个人比较喜欢，歌词能够打动人心，旋律也很棒。　　

第十二首《圆规》，是一首诠释爱情的歌曲，相比较前几首主题为友谊的歌，无论唱腔还是歌词意境，层次上都是一个上升。微微有些小缺点就是声线有点单薄，咬音虽然很准，key也没有任何错误，但整体上缺少支撑，声音就像被抽条了一样，很让我有买到大牌产品，一看原产地在中国的那种感觉。　　

如果给整张专辑一个评价，我想说，无论是音准或是技巧上，陈伟联都是有着自己很霸道的处理，唱功很厉害；但过于注重演绎方式的选择，往往忽略了唱歌最本质的东西——感情。整张专辑歌曲情感的把握上，我个人认为并不是尽善尽美无可挑剔的，不饱满或者释放不出正确的理解，是让我听完之后最遗憾的地方。可我还是很喜欢这个歌手，就如同我的题目一样：唱游的吉它。这张专辑吉它的弹奏是很大的特点，仿佛使我看到，一个热爱音乐的男子，常常背了自己的吉它，游走在一个灵感的空间，只为用自己的音乐去感悟世界，去感动他人。

The bouquet of flowers I am holding is purchased specially for Wei Lian, comprises of 2 blue hydrangea and 12 white roses with 2 blue bear, BA Jermaine and Joanna presented these 2 gifts to Wei Lian.

In summary, Wei Lian had busking sessions about 25 locations around Singapore just in August alone. I missed 4 locations due to work but attended the rest.

All of it is compiled into a diary and presented to him last friday's autograph session
at Lot one level 5 (rooftop).

The turnout was great and WLFC and fans and great time together like a reunion party.

陈伟联的新专辑找来不少著名音乐人助阵，从本地的小寒、梁文福到海外的林夕和姚若龙。其实，专辑最亮眼的创作是陈伟联的7首作曲。陈伟联的创作：孤寂的《孤单好吗》、苦情的《永远的朋友》、温馨的《星光伴我心》、揪心的《分手的情书》、苦涩的《圆规》、坚定的《宁愿》、失落的《寂寞之国》，首首歌曲的旋律风格鲜明，具备抒情摇滚的清雅感染力，作曲功力令人刮目相看。除了动听的曲，陈伟联是幸福的，他的曲碰上了优越的词、精彩的编曲。比如林夕作词的《分手的情书》算是专辑中最优秀的一首。陈伟联清唱歌曲的第一句‘聚要吃苦，散要受苦,就看谁更顽固'已经很吸引人。

While queueing to go into MC recording studio 1 for the "Don't forget the lyrics" Chinese recording, I received a call from Music Junction (MJ) AMK Hub at about 2.30 pm that Wei Lian's cd has arrived. After the recording, I purchased 6 copies. I am going to buy more over the weekend from other cd stores. Overseas fans from Canada, Taiwan, HK and Malaysia request my help to get copies from them. I am not buying them for my ownself.

Following are the information I received yesterday:

1. Music Junction all stores have stock

2. Sembawang CD (selective stores have stock)

3. CD-Rama (selective stores have stock - JE and Tampines have stock)

4. HMV (Not sure but should have stock )

I would suggest for you to go to bigger cd stores they should have stock but those smaller around HDB area may have to wait till 9th Aug.

FOR two years, local singer Kelvin Tan, who took a break after the release of his last album i-Weilian in 2007, has been living as an ordinary person.

That includes frequently using public transport.
During a recent interview with U-Weekly, the 27-year old laughed and said: 'Since I had so much time on my hands, I started taking buses and MRT trains again. It helped me save up quite a lot.'

Kelvin, who was born visually-impaired, didn't mind being recognised by fellow commuters, but professed to not liking cameras one bit.
'I'm very sensitive to the clicking sound of cameras, and I am instantly aware when someone takes a snapshot of me,' he said.

'Actually, not only do I hear the sound, I can sense the sudden bright flash light. It's really unpleasant.'

He added that he gets angry at times because unlike others who can spot the camera and evade it in time, he cannot.

'I just hope that people understand that I'm not a piece of scenery that you can photograph as and when you like,' he said.
'If you want to photograph me, at least have the courtesy to ask first.'
Kelvin enjoyed his career peak in 2006, after emerging champion of the inaugural Mandarin singing competition Project SuperStar.

He has sung in big arenas such as the Singapore Indoor Stadium, MAX Pavilion and Suntec Convention Hall and dreams of performing at the Esplande next. 'The concert halls in Esplanade are smaller but much cosier, and I've heard that the sound system there is great.'

His soon-to-be-released third album, Walk, Sing, Chen Weilian, will feature several self-penned songs.'I didn't deliberately set out to transform into a singer-songwriter, it just kind of hit me one day that I wanted to be myself,' he said.He admitted to 'slightly losing his real personality', especially over the last few years, when he ventured into Taiwan.

'When people started making remarks that I've become more PR-savvy, I realised how important it is to stay true to oneself.'
The songs he wrote for his upcoming album are 'easy-listening and soothing', said Kelvin.

'Basically, they are simple songs, a reflection of my current state of mind.'
When quizzed about his declining popularity, Kelvin was surprisingly candid.

'Facts don't lie. It's true I'm not in the hot zone right now,' he said.
'However, I don't think it's that people have forgotten me completely. It's just that I've been out of sight for a while.

'It's time to tell everyone that Kelvin Tan is back!'

He has always believed that everyone has to have a back-up plan to fall back on and he once told the local media that should the music industry not work out for him, he will either return to busking on the streets - Kelvin started out as a busker - or become a masseuse.

'If that really happens, I don't see anything shameful about it. It's not a 'downgrade' of jobs at all,' he said matter-of-factly.

'It's a real world out there and it's always good to be prepared for the worst.'
Kelvin has been appointed to sing the Mandarin version of this year's National Day theme song, What Do You See.

The song, written by local rock band Electrico, had critics and fans divided, as there were some who liked it for being unique and others who panned it for not being catchy enough.

'The Chinese version is pretty similar to the English one,' said Kelvin.
'Just that compared to Electrico's, mine is not so rock-flavoured.'

（新加坡訊）陳偉聯自首屆《絕對Superstar》后一夜竄紅，過去4年陸續推出兩張個人專輯，只是自上張專輯后，他卻十分低調，幾乎音訊全無。
為下個月即將發行的新專輯《走唱陳偉聯》受訪時，陳偉聯坦承一度對歌唱事業心灰意冷，他坦言過去的兩年是他的事業低潮期，“我有想過要放棄，但最后還是告訴自己要對公司有信心。自己一個人時真的會想太多，畢竟曝光率最近都少很多，靜下來時，會想，我該怎么辦？”
這低潮期間，有關于陳偉聯的負面新聞倒是“多”了，他苦笑：“這兩年新聞確實少很多，但如果沒有負面新聞報道，我想我的曝光率會更低！有新聞好過沒新聞啦。”

雖然藝人的光環戴了4年，但他表示不介意放下身段，再回到街頭上賣唱；而在五光十色的娛樂圈久了，陳偉聯也漸漸發現，自己越來越不適合“當藝人”。

“我比較適合當歌手，如果最后沒有辦法繼續發片當歌手，我不介意繼續在街頭賣唱。(放得下身段？)可以，為了生活，人總是要吃飯嘛。”

相隔三年，陈伟联将重踏国庆庆典的舞台，为全国献唱。他也是今年主唱华语版国庆歌曲的歌手。近日因忙于８月8日发行的新专辑拍摄工作，陈伟联久未露面，几次的彩排都没有见到他的踪影。日前他从台湾赶回新加坡，马不停蹄于昨天首次出席今年的国庆庆典彩排，精神焕发，新形象也首次曝光。新动网率先带你看看“闭关”两年后的陈伟联！

陈伟联的面颊消瘦了，头发稍微长了，整体的感觉多了一份柔情。

他说，“过去两年忙着为新专辑写曲，以情歌为主。”

近日忙于筹备第三张专辑《走唱陈伟联》的陈伟联刚去了台湾两、三个星期，为新专辑拍摄封面，并拍摄主打歌的MV。一直忙到日前才回国，昨天下午5：30赶到位于滨海湾的浮动舞台，出席彩排。

他演出的部分是在庆典的后半部，与女歌手Gayle Nerva同台演出，献唱过往经典国庆歌曲的串烧版本（Medley）。

被问及出场会否紧张时，陈伟联说：由于曾在国庆庆典演出，而且这次表演是唱歌，是他最在行的事，因此上台不会觉得紧张。不过，与上一次不一样的是，这是他第一次在浮动舞台演出。

在2006年在室内体育馆举行的最后一场国庆庆典中，伟联被邀独唱，之后他也出席过不少大型演唱会，也曾与天后容祖儿在香港红馆携手唱歌，可谓见惯大场面。

除了在国庆庆典演出外，陈伟联也用了约一个星期的时间，录制华语版的国庆歌曲《就在这里》，现在已在电台播放。

“今年的国庆音乐与往年有很大的不同，偏向比较摇滚的曲风，对我来说也是一种新尝试。”

《就在这里》的英文版《What Do U See ?》，是由本地摇滚乐队Electrico作曲作词，中文版就沿用原曲，由小寒填上华文歌词。

伟联觉得这是一首立志歌曲，他说，“我最喜欢的歌词是副歌的第一句，‘其实我们很像，决心握在手上。。。。。。’。”

伟联认为，“每人互相的扶持，互相的鼓励，梦想才更能实现。”

WLFC committees Stella and Elsie did it ! They have done this MV specially for Wei Lian's chinese version of NDP 09 theme song. Its also approved and accepted for Ndpeeps official channel for NDP. If u can get tickets for 18th Jul NDP rehearsals do go support WL!

Currently Wei Lian is in Taipei for his image styling and MV shooting. He should be back before 18th July for his 1st NDP rehearsals. Its going to be really busy time for him as finally after a long wait its now time to release his album. Its exactly 2 years since his 2nd album release in 2007.

Its very happy indeed for WL fans that this upcoming NDP, WL will be singing.
He is singing the chinese version of the NDP theme song which is written
by local band Electrico who will be singing the english version as well.

Interestingly WL will not be singing the chinese version during NDP but Medley instead.

Woke up this morning around 6 am check my twitter here it was a few tweets on Farah's passing and then followed by news MJ is rushed to hospital due to cardiac arrest. Not long after Ryan Seacrest Tweets say he needs to confirm news that MJ has past away.

Then I saw E-online news that MJ is dead but then twitter server is experiencing high loads and unable to confirm news. I even resort to checking with my US colleagues and they said CNN say MJ is in UCLA hospital. Not long after around 6.30 am I get news that MJ is indeed dead and due to over rehearsed for his July concert.

Me and a few colleagues went to MJ's concert in KL 1996 and that remains the best concert I have ever been to and its definitely worth the money.

Farah Fawcett from Charlies Angels just past away died of cancer at 62.
